What does it cost to have a new engine installed?

Theres a '00 V8 Ls here for sale cheap with a bent valve. There's also an '06 v8 for $500. Two questions:

1. Will an '06 v8 fit a '00 v8 Ls?
2. What should I expect to pay to have the engine swapped?
 
cost me 8000 for new engine on my car but I had warrenty so paid 2500 out of pocket
 
- the gen2 engine uses VVT, throttle-by-wire, ..etc - so the gen1 PCM will not work
- the mechanics around all the little differences (intake, throttle, ...etc) are quite a bit to deal with
- the PCM bus on the Gen2 uses CAN and therefore all the interal systems use CAN
- the SRS system is a little different
- the gen2 transmission is slightly different (5R55S)
 
Car is $1400 with 101K miles. Anybody know where a good Gen 1 V8 engine is for sale?
 
The gen1 for sale or gen 1 engine for sale?
 
I mean the Gen 1 V8 engine. Thanks for the clarification. I edited my earlier post to reflect what I actually meant!
 
WOW :eek: I JUST looked at this very same LS! I had seen it while driving by! I didn't know it was on CL. Its parked about 4 miles from my house in front of a repair shop. Lots of parts are gone but the engine is there! Interior looks mint. I'll be calling him tomm. AM!

Naw I'm just lookin to add another LS to the stable. Tired of the wife stealing mine...;)
