What date was our transmissions improved?

I would like to know if anyone knows, when in late 97 our transmissions were improved?
I'd like to know if my 97 has the improvement.

It was 98. I don't think any of the 97's were ever done. Not all 98's were improved either as far as I know. I could be corrected on this though.

the 98 model year was the improved design.. all 98 mark 8's got the updated transmission

I know someone that has a 97 that had the updated accumulator. Don't know about any other updated parts as the trans has not been apart.

^ that could have easily been address with a TSB.

you really have no way to be SURE the trans had never been apart.

it could have been back to the dealer early in 97 or 98 and had the TSB performed...

the earliest updated transmissions came with an orange sticker in the pan, with info on a TSB to return the transmisson directly to Ford if anything failed.............

All,

I suspect that the 97s with the chrome Lincoln Star on the steering wheel Air Bags have the later 1-2 accumulator valves from the factory ! That is what I found with three 97 cars !
