My 1995 Mark from time to time the check engine light turns on. I pull over and turn off the car and it goes away. I can drive with no further pop ups. I have checked the engine and nothing seems to be wrong. What causes this light to turn on? My car has a recent tuneup and all engine sensors were replaced. Thanks :F

Does It Come When You Are Over 3000 Rpm? I Have The Same Problem, When You Go Over 3000 Rpm But Mine Is Getting Fixed By Cleaning The "imrc". Try Seafoam First If This Is Your Problem.

the best thing for you is to take your car to a mechanic with a code scanning computer to find out what code the computer is sending to make the CE light come on. Or you can buy a code scanner of your own on ebay for 50 bucks. I did that, it saves many trips to the mechanic.

where on the car do you check codes?

i'm having the same prob, idk why, but i'm gunna get it checked but, where is the place to check it, is it anything like GM vehicles?

No the code scanner for MOST gen1 markVIII's is on the front drivers side strut tower. It's a little grey box that says EEC test, or something like that anyway. OBDII cars got the port under the dash. (The way the ALL should be)

now i have a 1993, so i have a obdI model from what i understand obdII didn't come out in some time in 1996. GM uses an "idiot light key" that allows the user to count flashes from the check engine light. Does the mark viii work the same why or is it similar to the obdII type?

The mark is a mix of both. You have to have a scanner to interface with the computer. After plugging it in, you have to coulnt the beeps of the scanner...or the flashes either one.

Autozone will usually check your codes for free.

I dont know if it's only in Ca, but they don't do it for free any more.
they want you to give a $174 deposit for you to use thier code reader.

i have a 95 continental
i am just so happy that they put OBDII in my car and not that GEN1 think man i am so happy about that
it was so nice to have an easy way to get my car tested man

Call ahead to Advance Auto parts to be sure they have a code reader that works, if so go there they will read it for free and tell you what is wrong.
