Can someone just go to the dealership with a VIN# and get all the service records for that car (at least for all maintenance done at all/any Ford/Lincoln dealers)? I bought this car 3 months ago and would like to know what has already been done on this car... say in the last few years.

I saw the CarFax report, prior to buying the car, and it mentioned no accidents, 1 owner, and brakes recently replaced (days before my purchase performed by the dealer). I want to go back further in time. I see CarFax and AutoCheck are options, but I don't know that I would get anymore details that I got when I bought it via a 2-3 page CarFax report.

CarFax and AutoCheck show 13 records for this VIN.

I'd like to know when the shocks were last replaced, and when the COP's where last replaced, if the timing chain tensioners have ever been replaced etc...

Bottom line: I have new "Eibach Lowering Springs" in route to my house, and would like to skip the shocks if the previous owner replaced them recently.

Just wondering if the dealerships would have more info...

I was told that Oasis only keeps track of warranty work. My car came with zero maintenance records, and the only info they were able to pull for my car was warranty work done on the seat and my keypad code. This is at the same dealer it was purchased from.

You wont always have the luxury of getting those records...i didnt either.

I just went ahead and changed everything to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the info. I went and got the Oasis report today... not much there, only info from 2002-2005: dead battery, seat back, and trunk latch replaced twice during prior ownership (trunk latch still doesn't work the best). I registered on Lincoln.com with my VIN#... No Service Records found. I called Lincoln's Owner Advantage phone number, they did not see any reference to shocks being replaced during previous ownership (but the dealer may not have entered it anyway if paid by the owner, or the work could have been done at a place that wasn't a dealership). I know the Brakes, 1 COP, DCCV, Alternator, Thermostat, Hydraulic Fan Pump, Hi-Speed Fan, Battery, 11 Lug Nuts, Oil & Filter, Tire Rotation etc has been done since I owned it at the Lincoln Dealership... but none of that shows up when I logon to Lincoln.com
