Upper Control Arm in!

If I have the time after work this week, I will have air tools, and a lift, if not, it will probably be done in the driveway.
The ones I am replacing are the ones at the control arm side. How much do I have to disassemble to do this? Does the LCA HAVE to be disconnected at the subframe?

You suck - Get on your back and use jack stands LOL... J/K

Mike too!! you guys make me jelous....

At least my friend Danny lets me use his nice garage to do my work.

Now I just need time to put in the lower ball joint.

Believe me, I have spent many days on my back under the car in the driveway...sometimes it's more fun than others. The shop at work comes in VERY handy sometimes...especially having more experienced people there to help if/when I get stuck AND that I can borrow tools that I don't have. I guess it's a fringe benefit to my job. I should go work for a Ford or Lincoln dealer.

I have to replace both uppers and one lower this week, so this thread is helpful:D

I hope you found out that you should get the T-bird control arms and not Mark VIII control arms. Exact same part but $40 cheaper.

Upper arm doesn't have the sensor nipple but since I don't have air on my 93 it didn't matter.

I am wondering if I should just go ahead and replace the LCAs whether they need it or not...that will be the only part not new on my front end if I don't.

Yup, just do it, and get it out of the way.

if the other things have been replaced, your just avoiding the enevitable.

need to replace upper control arms on my 98 lincoln mark viii

I have a pool of things i need to fix but before I install new rotors I need to figure out the best way to install the arms?
Once i found a diagram that had some info but lost the sight.
I already put a sway bar end link on my drivers side being it was banging and sounded like the tire was about to pop off, it was such a B%%&ch to get off I figured to do the passenger side another day, yea they are machine pressed and I beat the heck out of it from odd angles for two days to get that bugger out.
Anyway fixed the banging.
I just had a major problem when the engine started running real bad cylinder miss fire, had to do some research to learn the spark plugs are under plates where the valve covers are, well I took it to autozone and got a free engine check and it said could be #1 engine coil, turned out #2 was broke in half, so replaced that one,and slapped all back together, still jacked up not running good, so went ahead and put another engine coil in the #1 cylinder and bingo runs real good after replacing all the plugs I had never done before.
ater the control arms and rotor replacment I am seriously considering a air suspension conversion kit i saw on strut masters for about 400.00, my drivers side rear is a tad lower than the rest and I know the air pump is running far to often making humming sounds alot.
But if anyone can give me a diagram of how to install the upper control arms that would be great.
