Very true guys.....I've read a lot of post by others on these boards that aren't in the LS forum, and their all really nice ppl. Their's just always one sour apple in a bushel.
 
These are very different cars guys, I have both. Some of you have had the experience of owning both too.

The MarkVIII was built to be alot of things the LS was not meant to be.

Thats why its a odd comparison, I get asked all the time. They both have great features, but very different personalities.

Power wise its a pretty decent match up. Both have proven to out perform their publicated numbers.

Gen1 MarkVIIIS vs. GenII LSes very close.
Gen1 Lses vs. GenII MarkVIIIs very close.
Stock for stock we are talking about tenths here.

Handling hands down goes to the LS, I don't think you could mod a VIII to touch it.

The MarkVIII has something the LS will never have. Its pretty much the end of a era. One of the last of its kind.
 
I'm sorry but what's a Mark VIII? Of course I'm asking that rhetorically. These cars are a decade old with aging suspension design, aging engine design, and not to mention THEY ARE UGLY AS SIN!!!! The only people that dont look hilariously rediculous driving one of those monstrosities are old women on their way to church. Really, who holds on to these things (No offense if you own both an LS AND a Mark VIII). LS's are better looking, better performing, relatively inexpensive Beamer Beaters. Not to mention most of the major performance components (chassis, engine, tranny) were designed in-house at Jaguar (and yes I know Jaguar is owned by Ford smart a**es). The Mark VIII was built on obsolete Ford technology left over from the mid to late 80's. The LS is superior in every single way, and if any of you Mark VIII owners wish to challenege that, I'll take you on any day on any road.

Aging engine design? You don't know what your talking about, the MarkVIII was the first to get the 4.6DOHC engine which has evolved to power such cars as...the 03-04 Cobra, have you heard of that one. The 4.6 came out only 2 years prior and the Triton motor powers almost all of the FLM v-8 cars and trucks these days.

Hmm, all those Ford and Lincoln engineers who worked on the DEW-98 development team would certainly be surprised to learn that they worked for Jaguar. DEW-98 was NOT developed by Jaguar; it was a joint project between Ford, Lincoln, and Jaguar.

As for the engine and tranny being Jaguar designs, the AJ39 block is a Jaguar-designed block, but the lower end has as much Cosworth DNA as Jaguar, and the intake, heads, and engine control systems are all Lincoln. (And let's not forget that the Duratec 30 V6es are all Ford/Lincoln.) The 5R55N and 5R55S are Ford transmissions, and the 5-speed manual is a Getrag unit; not one of them is a Jaguar.

I love my car like the rest of us. I bought the Mark because I didn't want a four door.I don't need it and don't like the look.of four doors. Like we all have our personal reasons.
I think the Mark has smooth lines like the vettes, I've had two. May buy another someday.
It's a Lincoln with some balls and I love it :D :D

:eek: oh them's fight'n words lol. LS's are cool cars and are still lincolns and all... but they have 2 too many doors for me soccer mom. the mark viii was more performance oriented then your family sedan. no child saftey locks here haha. no real perfomance car has 4 doors. and yea the new 4 door chargers are gay too and i can say that cuz i've got a real one ( 69 charger 440). bottom line the mark viii was the '' last real lincoln performance vehicle'' and its been down hill from 98 on :D

Well, the reason I got my LS was simple. I needed a 4dr for my lifestyle. I want a 2 door, but things are not allowing that right now. I wanted a V8, rear wheel drive with fair performance that I could afford with warranty. This limited my choices. If you look at all the options, there are not too many that meet these requirements better than my '03 LS. It will suffice for now until I no longer need a 4 door sedan. Sure, there are the Crown Vics (traded mine in on the LS), Grand Marquis, Town Car, etc. but their perfromance is not in the same class as the LS. I even looked at a Q45, but they were out of my price range. Also, living in a small town of 35K population, I needed something that had local dealer warranty support. I looked for a Marauder, but did not want a black one nor a 2003 model. There were no '04s ,non-black to be had within 100 miles that was as cheap as my LS. It fits my current needs / desires as close as I could afford. I do not claim my LS the be all, end all of performance sedans, but it was the best I could afford that met my requirements.

Gauranteed this guy is not a day over 22 years old. The VIII is a badass car and with new suspension, tint, rims, exhaust, and all the other goodies you can make them very sleek, unique looking 13, even 12 or 11 second cars on the stock motor. You just can't do that with the LS. I debated purchasing an VIII before I got the LS but I didn't want to deal with the air suspension. Plus the VIII no longer cuts in termsstyling when it comes to a luxury vehicle in today's world. It may have all, or most, of the bells and whistles, but I feel much better rolling in my LS than I ever would an VIII, unless I'm rolling down the track doin a 140, that is a different story...hehehe.

I think most here agree that both cars are awesome cars. Their are just some retards that like to ruin things everywhere they go, not just Lincoln forums but everything. You all know the kind of people I'm talkin' about. The one's picking fights at parties, cutting people off on the highway, smokin' rocks. Put 4.10s - or even 3.54s - in the '06 charger opposed to the stock 3.06s, a less restrictive intake and exhaust (and we know all new cars usually have very restrictive stock setups) and watch that 1/4 mile drop to around 13 flat or less at least. With just gears it would probably be a 13.2 or 13.3...easy IMO. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I of course would take the '69 either way...that is why when I was looking for a performance vehicle I went with an '89 Z28 with a built 355ci opposed to one of the newer models.

I think if the LS had just as many aftermarket mods available as the VIII it would be a far superior vehicle...IMHO.

Those were my thoughts as well, but to keep things on a "level" playing field I just used the specs as they came from the factory. Also, the SRT/8 Charger is limited on the top end to 165 mph.

I mean with enough money and time you can make anything go fast. :)

I like how 95LSC 2FAST4U has the 8 turbo 57 Chevy in his/her gallery. That is a pretty famous car and definitely not owned by them. Also claiming it to have 1800HP, ha. There is an article out on this car on a website and has around 700HP. http://www.lateral-g.org/sandlin/

yea but my 440's punched out with over 500 hp... stall convertor.. and 5:13 gears... as well as mini tubbed to fit my wide slicks. that new chrysler 300 wit a magnum grille ( charger) can eat dust :D
 
Well this debate is going much better.. with what sound more intelligent responses.

What I want now is for some of you LS guys to come to meets... Show off those nice cars. Quit make the Mark VIII owners the only ones at the meets.

Well accept for a one or two TC or a Conti here or there.

But anyway you slice it. The LS is a nice car. But Jason I've not spent too much time in an LS but with the air ride conversions they are a different driving car. Much much more solid and can really stick to the curves. Mind you I've taken mine to the curves around here and we do have the curves.
 
Sure, invite them. Will the have the time to show up, is the question. Maybe the next Boscobel meet will have enough fanfare to get them interested.
 
i agree the mark's are ugly as sin but i have seen some clean looking marks i was thinkin bout gettin one for next summer to deliver pizza's in haha, but IMO since i drive from FLA to NC on the regular i need somethin newer, plus last time i came back to fla from nc i rolled with a camaro with ease goin 100 all the way through south cakalaky and georgia with the radar detector and the sub pounding
