the LS dominates the mark but i love both. both are luxury sport cars but i think lincoln should have been smart and continued the mark VIII's engine choice "COBRA" into the LS
 
The Reason For More Ls Threads Is Many More Problems. Personally The Ls Sucks. I Had 3 In A 14 Month Period And Each Time Before I Could Get 5500 Miles, Nasa Was Calling Me About The Explosion The Motor Made. They Are Junk, Smaller V8, Less Power, The Powerband Is Too High, To Narrow. They Look Ok But Are Much Smaller, Less Luxery And Performance And Options. The Mark Is A Legend, All Marks. Mark Vii Were Awesome And The Cop Car From Florida Is A 1991 Police Edition Mark 7, Not An Ls????

Bottom Line The Ls Is A Nice Car, But It Cant Compete In The Mark 8 League, More Like V6 Crotch Rockets Like Mitsubishi, Honda, Pontiac, Other Small Tiny Cars. Bottom Line I Reverted Back To " Lincolns Last Real Car" The Mark 8, I Have 3 Now 2 95's And A 97 Which I Dont Like.. Gen I Is The Real Deal, Too Much Emmissions And Obd Ii Crap For Me On Gen Ii.

Come On Lincoln Did It Again With The Zephyr. Junk Like The Ls, Least They Put A V6 And Not The 3.9 V8 In The Ls That Seemed To Be Made Of C-4 The Way It Would Explode. The First Ls I Had The Friken Cam Shot Through The Valve Cover, A 2 Inch Piece Anyway, Put A Dent In Hood....the Other 2 Could Be Easily Collected By Removing The Oilpan, There Would Be The Guts Of The Engine After Detination, Roughly 5000 Miles Or So....i Have Heard Thousands Telling Me At The Lincoln Dealer I Work At About There Ls Exploding, Thats Why They Quit Making It....

Are you joking about the engines blowing in the ls???? seriously, I've seen one post about that and IIRC the guy was an idiot. I've never heard that as a problem w/the LS...not with a dealer, owner, shop, etc.

The LS has a ton of problems, but I don't think blown motors was one of them.

Maybe on your next one you could put some oil in it. :-)

A Stock Ls Can Handle Better Than A Stock Mark 8, But With Larger "aftermarket" Swaybars, Bushings And Tire-rim Swap, The Mark Being 7.4 Inches Wider And The Speed Assist Steering And Oh Yeah The Suspension Lowering At 60mph, The Ls Would Never Stand A Chance.

Too Small Of A Car. The Lincoln Has Pretty Much All Alluminum Everywhere Like Block, Suspension, You Name It, Plus Has Fiberglass Hood And Other Body Parts That Reduce Weight, Still Is A Good 550 Pounds Heavier Than A Ls. Ls Is In A Higher Class, The Ls Is A Subcompact With A V8, And Still Cant Run Down A Mark.

I also had a Mark years ago before the LS, they are completely different cars. Cant compare a 4 door to a 2 door. The Mark VII has the potential to be faster but out of the box stock for stock they are pretty close.

Only reason I dont have a Mark VIII now is that I dont want to drive an American car over 8 years old. I dont trust any of them w/o a warranty.

funny thing is i have chased down plenty of marks and stomped on them also stating that the ls is like a honda is funny especially considering if you take the mclaren ls' motor and put it up against the cobra 03' 04' the power is around the same not to bad for a smaller motor. also you are kind of dumb if you want to talk learn your mustangs dumb ass. "sorry fopr the language" the 4.6 liter came out in 96' for mustangs not 97' so before you act like you know anything id suggest actually knowing it.

I would just hate to think that I had to state my "OPINION", however biased it may be, over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over over and over. Opinions are like a$$hole's, everybody's got one, most of them stink, and there all biased to some degree. I love my 4 door, grocery gettin, family tote'n LS the way it is, even if there isn't a very big aftermarket for them. I bought my LS based on my style and taste a good week before I found LVC on the internet. Probably wouldn't have even looked for it, if I didn't just happen to run across it while doing a search about Lincoln.

Oh, and before I forget......Quik, don't let this joker get to you. You handle your original, one of a kind, made from scratch, supercharged business, and let others bolt on what they need to make them feel better. You are one of the most highly trained "HICKS" that I have ever meet. Obviously, not everyone knows how to handle such a piece of engineering as you can....At least, that's my opinion.:rolleyes:

I've owned two Marks, I like them far more than the LS, and I think they're better cars in many (but certainly not all) aspects.

But the..ahem..other Mark VIII enthusiast in this thread is downright embarrassing. I think something like an 80s Camaro would be better suited to him.
 
As for his comments about styling, that's purely a subjective matter and one should refrain from commenting as such. However, I'm one that thinks differently. In fact, I don't think there is a comparison. I first saw the LS in 2001 and fell in love with it. Finally, after two kids, building a house, and some five years later, I scrapped up the change and purchased a 2006 not two days ago. The car has beautiful lines and as far as I'm concerned FLM really messed up by abandoning it. I love the car and will most likely have it for a very long time.

Most of your facts are way off, and your insults are uncalled for. You claim that LvC is the best Lincoln site, well don't make us look like other Lincoln sites or the Ricer sited who just flame each other.

Some of the members who you are flaming are very experienced mechanics who know their cars. I'd be afraid to take on Quick's LS with any of my Mark VIIIs even my 94 which has a history of being a very fast and quick stock Mark VIII.

This thread was a very respectful thread until you started to flame the members. You are allowed your opinion and are allowed to express your opinion on what you feel about the LS or the Mark VIII.

In this thread I've seen only respect from the LS owners, not because they have cars that are substandard to the Mark VIII, but because they are honorable members with respect for each other. My hat is off to them.

But please don't make Mark VIII owners out to look like @ssholes.

In the Mark VIII 97-98The DOHC 32-valve 4.6L V8, rated at 280 hp, came with a distributorless coil-on-plug ignition system, eliminating the use of high voltage spark plug wires. According to every site I could find (Car and Driver had nothing)...the best 0-60 and 1/4 mile time for a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC was 7.0 - 0-60 and 15.3 1/4 mile...

Now that is Lincoln's Best vs Best because none of the other Marks were as fast as the '98 VIII LSC stock and the fastest LS is the 03-06.

When I used to race I was RARELY been beat by "tuned honda" in a drag race that wasn't using a major form of forced induction or n2o...I've raced probably 30. I think Quik's LS will top 13.88 in the 1/4 once ready....IMHO. Or at least I hope so.

SO! I hope I cleared everything up for you. You see, the LS enthusiasts are an educated bunch (for the most part) and if you make ludicrous claims that one's here...you will be broken down and torn apart without mercy.

I have to say that I like both cars, I wish the LS had the aftermarket support that the Mark does, but on the same note, thats why i have a project mustang, because it had more aftermarket than the mark. When i went looking for my car there was a mark sitting beside it, and while i kinda liked the styling of it, when i saw the ls i fell in love. I think the styling is alot more up to date and european. Both cars are nice, its all personal preference.

And quik, if you ever come up to canada with that thing id be happy to give you a run, i dont think i would stand a chance, but at least id be beaten by something with class and that is truely unique. If you do come up though, bring me a SC kit. :D
 
Wow I am sorry to the LS crowd. I didn't know this thread was gonna get some MARK VIII people fired up so much as to come over and bash us all. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that people that drive Lincolns have class. Oh well atleast I learned that I was an ignorant hick that didn't know anything about cars so I bought an LS. And to think I was looking at Mark VIIIs before I bought my LS.
