after removing everything as i am going to put in the new shock coil conversion i cant get the bottom of the shock to line up is there a trick to doing this?

Mine was the same way! One of the bottom mounts on the front struts was not aligned properly. I had to put the strut in my vise & undo the top nut about 3/4 of the way & then with a pry bar move the top plate to align it. I was pissed off that the kit came this way.

The rear coils were too freakin short & the car sagged in the rear too. I was really pissed over this after spending $455 dollars. Eddie said he would buy the rears back from me, but then wouldn't respond to my e-mails! I had to get another set of rears to fix this.

With all of this said, Eddie does not make the kits, strut masters does. As far as I am concerned that company sucks! How can you send out a mis-aligned front strut & rear coils that drag on the freaking ground? At first I thought it might have been a one time screw up but I guess not.

Anyways, You will need to move the top over So it will line up on the car. Don't pull the nut all the way off or the coil could pop out & hurt you.

Good luck.

If its the same problem I had this is how I twisted it to get the bottom bolt in. I applied the c-clamp and twisted until I got the bolt through.
ALmost forgot, I used the jack to put the hole at the right height, since it was just me doing it.

thank you i got it finaly and with no problems with the rear. have you replaced the rear shocks? ive called napa and kragen and when i asked for just the shock they said its a whole kit for almost 700 do you know where i can get rear shocks at?

put the 3 nuts that hold the shock on top, go grab yourself a pry bar and get the shock from the bottom and turn it as needed............thats what i did, it was only off a little off.

get rear shocks for a T-Bird, 96-97.

It seems that most of the front struts are mis-aligned. They should not come like this. Mine was off by a good inch.

yes t-bird shocks work, when you take your old shocks off, remove the bracket off the top of them and save it, cut or burn the old rubber bushings out of these saved upper mounts, use them with the new bushings supplied with the new shocks and reinstall. you can use monroe's , gabriel's, billstein's, any shock that will fit the 95+ t-bird will fit the mark VIII.

I dont get why people dont go and use that 400 dollars and get some nice aftermarket struts from a tbird and some eibach springs when converting to springs.

Believe me, If I ever do this again I will go a different route. What you suggested sounds like a much better idea.

I had the same problem with my struts from eddie as well but pryed the hell out of them until the bolt went in. Lots of fun, but it's done now.

I've never had a problem with Eddie's struts. Maybe Eddie needs to know that parts coming from Strutmasters are flawed. I'll get back to him and let him know.

Eddie's never done me wrong... I still stand by his service...

Also... Kid... when the air ride goes switch to springs LOL...

I'm sorry for the trouble guys. They put these things together 50 at a time, so when something goes wrong.....it goes wrong 50 times! :(

To remedy the problem, all that needs to be done is to put a prybar in the bottom and twist. I know, you shouldn't have to do that when spending that kind of jack on a kit, but things like this does happen when mass-producing a product and again I do apologize.

I figure that this should set someone back about an hour(for both sides) at the most and time is money, so for those of you that have experienced this problem, I am willing to pay you $15 an hour for your time. This does NOT involve Strutmasters in any way, this is from American Air Suspension. Those of you in this post, please shoot me an e-mail with your real name or the name the order was placed under. If the cc info is still on file, I'll credit your card $15. If it is not, I can either PayPal the funds or make other arrangements.

Turborich, I haven't forgot about you, just sidetracked. You have mail.

I agree with Roadboss 100%. Problems can happen. It's what you ( the business man ) do afterwords to make it right that counts. Good job Eddie. Gary in Elmira, NY.

I just really don't understand why this is a big deal... waaaa waaaa I have to align the struts....

Every time I've put struts in a car I've had to take the old factory springs off and put them on the new struts, and then usually a little bit of alignment is necessary, I'd just be glad that they put the springs on the struts for you!
