Hey guys need help. My tranny won't shift. When I'm sitting in my car before I take off, the o/d button works fine (lights up when o/d is off and goes off when depressed), But when I take off tranny doesn't shift at all and o/d light begins to flash involuntary and I'm unable to stop it. Is the tranny shot or is there something that I can do for a fix. By the way the car is a 1996 mark viii.

Get the codes read, maybe bad shift solenoids... but that would make it be stuck 2nd gear....

solenoid or electrical issue in the valve body.

there is 2 speed sensors....a turbine speed sensor, and a output speed sensor...sometiems referred to as the turbine speed sensor...you would have had a vehicle speed sensor code if it was the other speed sensor

Wouldn't hurt to replace the MLPS as cheap as it is. No draining of anything to change it either.

EPC failure will cause the O/D lamp to flash. Could be due to low fluid pressure or a bad solenoid. Was there any preliminary symptoms?
Ok. Took pan off to change solenoid. But the solenoid that I got looks to be the one that is kind of up by where the shifter shifts. Is this the right one for me If the car is stuck in second. There was only a speed sensor code in car and I corrected that. Is there an easy way to replace that solenoid or am I replacing the wrong part.
just got off of advance auto's site. I think they sold me the solenoid that has to do with line pressure. Can it easily be changed? I think the solenoid I need looks like two squares. the shift solenoids. I need help?
