Trade in for the Genesis

Only thing I don't like about Pontiacs is the hood vents...if they got rid of that they'd be badass cars.....but I say hood scoops/vents aren't needed unless they are ACTUALLY needed.....
 
are those stick-on vents like on the mustangs?

i just wish the g8 came in manual. it doesnt, right?
 
No, the vents on a G8 are actually in there......I'd never put a hood scoop or vents on my LS...just would be too tacky
 
Alright guys, didnt know a topic like this would bring soo much attention haha.

I've read everyone's comments, and actually gave the Benz c class some thought. Not sure what im going to get exactly.

If its the genesis, I'm going to wait a year or so for a used one, extremely low mileage so that way I'm not pissed off how much the value lost when i drove it off the lot. Let someone else take the hit. ( read on someone's comment )

As for resale, I would get the genesis used like explained above, and keep it for a long time, i mean it has america's best warranty, and i honestly dont care why it does. Still a great deal. So i would actually keep it for about 5 years or so.

As for my LS, i bought it in Dec 07, had my continental for a year and a half, LS i give it a year or so.

Its just i want something new that i know im going to keep for a long time.

I bought extended warranty for the LS 4 years, it hasnt even been 2 years that i've had the car, and i paid over a grand for the warranty i believe, i just don't know what to do right now. Maybe keep the LS till warranty is out, idk.

You can get the a 5 spd auto with the 6cyl and 6 spd auto with the G8 GT. 6spd manual option for GXP. My friend is a dealer for a GMC lot here and let me drive a dark gray G8 GXP auto. Super nice and fast. I'd take one.

I wouldn't buy any GM product at the moment. Poor resale value, poor quality, uncertain future and I'm definitely not buying any of their ads lately. One commercial states "Saturn isn't going anywhere." That's laughable because the brand is being truncated in 2010. GM is experiencing the same dilema as Starbucks right now....too much too fast. I personally will never buy a GM product again.

That being said, I think your $42,000 would be wisely spent on another brand, foreign would be ideal. Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes or Honda. All of their resale values are outstanding. Consider investing your money in an alternative-fuel vehicle, great tax credits for those.

Our V8's are great but they way the world is turning now they might not be so great after too long. I'll give my LS another 6 months to 1 year before I pull the trigger on something more efficient, cleaner burning and highly desireable by the resale consumer market.

However, it is your money so you can do want with it as you wish. I just believe for your sake there are better cars out there for the money and you'd be foolish to just jump in that Genesis without considering the competition.
 
Honestly and I know a few people dont wanna hear this but I would take that cash and get something like a used LS 430. You can get them loaded and with as many or more reliable options as that Hyundai. Im not sure off the top of my head what the price tags are right now for the different years and such but if I was looking to spend that kind of cash I would spend it on one of those. The BMWs and Benz would be great but the repair costs would be way more than even the LS 430 and Lexus has got to have the best resale for any car out for very good reasons!.
 
G8, CTS, Audi, BMW... The MKS is a disappointment if you ask me, and Hyundai hasn't proven themselves to me yet. Id buy an MKZ over the MKS, but I am in love with the GXT model G8.... 6.3L LS3 and every bit the comfort of the LS

G8 GT and GXP look like nice cars! I'd certainly consider a used one if I was in the market for a 4 door performance vehicle.
 
Buddy has a G8 GT, well had, that car was nuts. He traded back in for the GXP. If I would of waited I probably would be in one too but its alright, he lets me drive it often.
 
One car i that i havent seen mentioned is the Phaeton. Those are about to hit the lease turn in time and are nice cars for the money.

Gotta love Top Gear, one of my favorite shows. Jeremy Clarkson has driven some of the sickest cars on the planet and seeing that he gives his full endorsement says ALOT. Those cars are amazing and watching that video just backs that up. There is a '06 for $28k by me, thats one hell of a deal in my book. If i totaled my LS tomorrow i would be driving a Phaeton by the weekend.
 
Ya Jeremy is badass and I find it funny that so many people think's he's Biased on American cars when he's owned a Ford Focus for 6-8 years now and still hasn't had any problems (See his FORD ST video) especially when Top Gear is mostly on performance cars...and cmon...America hasn't put many of them "Performance" cars on the plate........even the Mustang has century old suspension.......I'm still waiting for a Mustang that makes me feel I'm in the right century.....

I just saw a recent Top Gear where they put a new Audi A4 with a 2.0tt against a Mustang GT. The Mustang didnt even come close to keeping up. Sad.
 
Hmmm.....I dunno.....I know the Rousches fixed the suspension problem in the Mustangs :P

Right, i originally was thinking it was the S4 but then i remembered it was only the A4 with the 2.0. I remember Jeremy stating his Audi had half the displacement of the "American" Mustang.
