I only got two runs in 2 1/2 hours so i left after the second one. Hooked up with some two of the other napa stores manager, was one the guy with the caddy (cai, exhaust, no cat, accel ignition stuff) ran 15.1 and 14.9 tonight, same guy that was suppose to race the white gen 1 i had and never did, other friend has a 240sx turbo, gutted, race seat, cutouts, and pulled off some 12.5' tonight.

Info - 97 Mark VIII - 1/2 tank, spare tire/jack, spare belt & breaker bar in the trunk, 58,125 miles, entirely stock with new motorcraft plugs + fuel filter on kuhmo ecsta tires

First- easy on the throttle off the line, tires felt great so i gave it the go 2nd time after it had a chance to cool down.

Its got some more in it as i didnt beat on it at all could probably pulled another tenth outta it but didnt feel like waiting in line again. My goal was a 14.99 to shut my friend up with the eldordo :D and i beat that and tied him with the crap hes got on it so i'm pleased with my 14.94 on a 100% stock gen 2

Launched at idle both times no t/c, no o/d, second time gave it the go and it was smooth the whole way down, felt good riding on those bags, real good. This was just to get an idea what its potential stock was. I removed the air silencer and threw a K & N in it yesterday. (went to the track tuesday) and now it breathes, breathes hard enough that @ WOT my belt is squealin so now i gotta put a tensioner on it.

also gotta do the back brakes it started making noise on the way down...lol i just said somethin earlier about how i knew it needed them but no noise and now when i back up it sounds horrible.

a 14.94 out of a bone stock second gen is "FLYING"!

good runs Lux!

Thanks, thats what i keep seeing.

Maintence goes along way :)

typically they are 15.20-15.30 cars at 93-94MPH.

your MPH is "right in the ball park" for a second gen, your ET is stellar for a second gen.

keeping in mind that ET is really a useless number MPH is the true measure of a cars "HP".. ET only shows how effectively the car USES the HP.

Keep your eye on the MPH.. but that sub 15 second ET is impressive!

Sweet. I was determined to break 15 seconds. :D

I had to shut this guy up with the modded eldorado...this began like 8 months ago when i had the white gen 1 and he backed out...so now i'm racing the same car (his caddy but now with more done to it) with a STOCK gen 2 (over my not stock gen 1 - had exhaust, no air silencer, cut air box) so i was already slower goin in and after i ran that 15.3 (being easy on it) i was like i'm comin for you and i want at least a 14.99 so i dont go home with my tail between my legs.

The planets aligned and needless to say i was ear to ear afterwards :D

need to get yours to the track with Eddie!

YA no doubt, I wonder how it will do with 2 batteries in the trunk and the heavy ass compressor, which is easy a good 150lbs

Its been years since I've gone out to the track.

not sure what a good 60' is with a mark, but it seems to me like that would be my focus for work. 2.2 isnt bad in the LS world, but 2.0's can be reached.

then again I dont know what Marks do at the track, mine hasnt been yet

a 2.0 would be nice for sure, first time the car was ever there so i'll be workin on that :)

Nice times. I'm sure the cool fall weather helped. I only made one run with my 98LSC, and it was on a 100 degree day right after it stopped raining, and I pulled a 15.1@93.7. That was with a j-mod though, so in bone stock form, pulling a 14.9 is pretty impressive. Nice car you have there.

Monday cars are bad since they were assembled with a hang over from the weekend. Wednesday cars workers do good work since its humpday friday cars are bad since they are ready to go party.

lol what would be a wednesday car

meaning it wasn't built on a monday or a friday...

as you know, employee performance suffers on mondays and fridays.
Same goes for the auto industry

Those are some good times, next time lower the car and see what it runs. I read an article that said lowering your would give you another .10s off your time. BTW I thought you couldn't mod a Eldorado, what does he have?

as far as i know He has no cats, custom exhaust, custom cold air intake, accel ignition coils, the fuse for the traction controll pulled, and thats all I personally know of

Ive been thinking about sensor lowering it...just havent gotten the time to do it yet. ;)

Those are good times man.

I'm starting to think that the difference between a 15.3-15.4 and a 14.9-15.0 on a stock gen 2 might be the tires. My 96 grabs way better with summer performance tires than it did with all seasons, but I've yet to go to the track with the new tires to test this out.

I would believe that. I have kuhmo tires that are "ultra high performance summer tires"

Zero wheel spin with no t/c no o/d mashing it to the floor from idle

on the street it will light them up, at the track they planted real nice and hooked up perfectly.

Good stuff. Just remember Atco is typical 2 tenths better than most tracks since it's pretty much sea level. :D

You can sensor lower the front end in less than 2 minutes. Just grab a 10mm wrench, and reach in the wheel well, loosen where the sensor bolts to the body, let the spring pressure of the sensor push it to the bottom of the slot, and then tighten the nut back up, and repeat on the other side. You don't even need to take the wheels off to sensor lower it.
