When I drive my 97, I always shut the ride control off. Yesterday I left it on when I pulled up to a stop sign, there was traffic come, so I floored it and the f**ken thing kicked in and nearly stopped the car! , Scared the sh*t out of me! thought I was going to get T-BONED! (I know it prevents the tires from spinning) But It never done that before, But I don't think I ever floored it with the ride control on before either. Is that normal or is it on it's way out?

It only engages when the tires start to spin. Either let off the gas a little, or keep turning it off.

Im sure there is some way to disengage it for good, but I have no idea how.

I'm glad mine doesn't have that option to even worry with. If I had it, I would just leave it off and get to know the grip of my tires. Maybe use TC for the snow or something. It will feel like a bog down if stomped with it on.

It's always on when I start the car, Is there something in the message center I can do to have it off when I start the car?

No, its always on by default. You can disable it but then you loose ABS also.

However, there may be a way to cut a signal wire from the ABS to the PCM. So the ABS would engage but not trip the engine timing retarding. But not sure since the ABS must get signal from the PCM for vehicle speed? I dunno. Just a thought.

yea my blue 94 didn't have it, or those stupid dimming mirrors that break :) now the blakc one and green one have it.....first thing i do, turn it off

Actually your 94 does, the button itself was an option. But all they did up to 96 was to control the ABS to prevent slippage. In 97 engine retarding was introduced, and that is the problem above. It can really bog down the engine and give you no go until it release control again.

Interesting to know. I'm just glad I don't have the bog or the button.

the engine retarding is nice when you are going down the freeway and its pure ice but getting off the the the car will come to a complete stop and that sucks
and you made me confused calling it ride control its traction control

I believe the Sniper software can shut it off when the car starts. When they wrote my tune they asked if I wanted it off but since its a DD and it was January when they did it I told them to keep it on. :)

BTW, its Traction Controll not Ride. Ride is your suspension. :p

Clea your ABS sensors off... if they get sketchy readings they will throw false TC on's under moderate acceleration...

Mine did it when I first got it..

OK, OK, Traction control!:p If you young whipper snappers keep busting my chops, I'll have to open up a can of whoop ass on yaz!:p ;) :D

Alright John, we'll lay off a little but make sure you push the "ride control" button when you crank it or "bog button" lol :D We don't want our azzez to be wooped on. I got enough of those when I was little. Now I'm 41 and don't think I could handle a woopin. whipper snappers lol

where can i find these ABS sensors? it concerns me that when you turn off the TC it also turns off the ABS

IDK how true that is. I have driven without my TC on and had to stop on gravel very quickly and I KNOW my ABS was working.

LOL! Don't stop! Busting each other is part of the fun! and it's a way to separate the :D from the  !! :shifty: I'll go and look for those buttons right now:shifty: :p

While you look for those, look on the remote I sent you and one will say "panic".... Really that's the "piss off neighbor button", especially on mine. I have a 147 db siren put in place of my original horns and it sounds like a cop car. It is extremely loud. Anyway, some people take offense when you bust balls on here and joke around. If I didn't have fun when I came on here, I wouldn't come. That's why .org is a place I don't go to anymore because it sucks. <----I would have been banned for that word on .org lol. You gotta have some fun and I never come on here . When I start the transmission, I'm sure I will then.

Obviouly there was some confusion from my ABS sensor comment...

The Gen 2's use an ABS sensor to read the speed and also the speed of the rear wheels VS from wheels which engages TC if the reading don't match up...

My sensors would totally covered in crud cause false readings and it would kick on TC randomly... cleaned them and it works now...

If you turn TC off ABS stay on...

Im not real clear on traction control. Is this just another word for posi trac? I thought being able to lay rubber with both tires is preffered.
