THE COBRA R's ARE BACK!!! (PICS)

For those that remember these wheels, the reason I removed them from my car was because they would rub on my control arms. Well, as some of you know, a couple weeks ago I swapped upper/lower control arms. The idea of swapping back tickled my mind since I was watching them install my upper control arms.

Anyway, sure enough, I was desperate to throw them back on the car. Woke up this morning @ 7am, mowed the lawn then headed straight to the tireshop to mount 2 front tires on the two wheels that had no tires on them.

Came back home & polished the car thoroughly!

Thanks guys. Im very happy with the wheel swap. Now here's the news that's going to drive u guys nuts. In the next 3 days i will make an ultimate decision which could mean i wasted my time swapping wheels. I have to decide between my 93 & a black on black 97 w/61k on the odometer. Interior is MINT, exterior needs paint. Has white spotting from the sun. Original owner, senior driven.

All 4 tires are 275/40's. If you measure the tires while on the rim, they measure 10 inches. All 4 wheels are 9" wide.

Quick yet dumb question. I'm most likely getting 18x9 cobra R's next spring. I have the regular air suspension, what's the widest i can go in the front without rubbing and the widest i can go in the back without rubbing or rolling the fenders? Could i get away with 255/45/18 up front and 275/45/18 out back?

Unless the suspension comes down 4 - 5 inches nothing will rub. When it does, only the driver's side rear tire rubs a bit against the fender.

Fender rolling will be necessary if you sensor lower your car!

most, if not all. 275s are an excellent fit for 9" rims. its what ford put on the 04 cobra.

Definitely not the wheel of choice for the drag strip! These Cobras with tires installed are HEAVY & I'm talking elephant HEAVY! In fact, next time I have them off, I'll weigh them to find out.

I've seen your center caps on ebay. I've been tempted so many times but I have to separate necessity from luxury right now. I still need to install motor mounts & sway bar bushings on this car.

Also, your emblems are for flat center caps right? My center caps are rounded.

275's all around looks good but is heavy for the drag strip.

I haven't ran at the strip yet with these. They're mounted and ready to roll. I can pick them up with one finger WITH the tire. They have 215-60 Firestone rubber on them now. I run stock rims on the back with the sticky Mickeys.

I mean our first version caps, the ones with the chrome Cobrastar in the middle on gloss black cap overlay, it was a 2 pice kit (per wheel).
