My first Texas mile event and being a car guy I was going insaine trying to figure out what car to drool over first. I got anxious and looking at the pics it shows. Sorry they aint that great but gives everyone a taste.
I had no plans on going but some friends on Stangnet insisted I come down and party with them and help run Marks Vette.
2008 C6 with a new 402, YSI maxed out, twin meth injection and a 100 shot. Unfortunatly the car had one issue after another. Did 740rwhp on low boost with no nitrous and then when trying the race tune it lost an injector. Got that issue sorted and found a new and better tuner/shop and the car put down near 1000hp without the nitrous but was shredding belts. Turns out the blower mount was jacked and they needed the newer version.

Didnt get to run the Vette as last minute issues were poping up and it just wasnt safe. Guess it was a good thing as the track kinda sucks and the headwinds of 20+ mph were causing hell with the cars. The Vette may not have come out alive. Last minute decision was made to run Maddoxs car and glad we did. Thing threw us for a suprise of a 154MPH run on a stock auto 2012 GT. There were modded GTs and even a Boss motor swapped GT that were not running that quick or were within 3 mph.
Not running the Vette on Saturday allowed for mass drinking in Port Aransas and crashing a bridal shower with some uber hotties. Gotta thank a drunk Mark for that showing his new iPhone to them that I pranked him with..... long story but very funny. LOL

Now on to the fun stuff.

LMR had their 2200RWHP F-body there and were close to breaking the record and hit 240's but lost a head and it took them out of the running. Unfortunatly the memory card is goofy and it didnt save the pictures of it. Oh well, its black and has a chute. :D

The next person that was expected to break 250 was this Procharged Lumina Stockcar. They hit 240 and then decided to try again with a 250 shot of nitrous since they did the 240 without any. Car couldnt get traction at all and wasnt able to break the record. Sure did sound sweet trying.

There were several Vipers there in various states of mod. So heres a yeller one. :p

Ford GTs were out in force! This particular group brought three. Two 1100+ rwhp twin turbos and a Heritage GT.
Heres Mullets:

Mustangs were out in force too! Lots of GT500's, GT500KRs and 5.0 GTs.

Wanted to see this one run but he hurt his brakes trying to haul it down from 200mph.

IMGP0036.jpg

Lots of AC Cobras too. One even had a real 427 SOHC iron block in it. :nice:

Coule CTS-Vs out and they were very quick. 174-178MPH in a freakin 4 door luxory cruiser.
IMGP0056.jpg

Here was another one you just didnt see coming. 2006 CL65 Benz. Air-con seats with massagers, full weight at 4900lbs and still runs 190MPH.
IMGP0061.jpg

Had a few blown Challengers too. Didnt really pay attention to times but they had a sweet sound. Thought the blue ones blower drive was unusual. Ran right through the intake.

Then there was this poor GTM. Waited all day Saturday to see him run and he didnt. He ran Sunday but I was in the staging lanes so I didnt see the wreck that shut the track down for a long time. Guess he lost it on the big end and spun the car and ripped off most of the nose. I tried to get pictures latter of the remains but couldnt find the car.

There were many ZR1s as well. Very impressive cars. They were all running between 178mph (stock) to 190mph with mild mods. Love the brakes on these things.

This beast was the GT500 to watch. Undisclosed HP but was hitting 217mph and sounded sick.
IMGP0054.jpg

This Alpha 12 AMS GT-R was just sick. 1200 whp and just screamed! Was running over 215mph despite the headwinds and heat. The work done was very nice. They were testing out a new intake design.

And just a few random pics.

And last but not least, the Maddox (d98gt) 2012 GT that ran the 154.5
First pic I took while waiting in the staging lanes. Was right when the GTM wrecked.

I got a couple videos but crap video abilities on my camera and all you really see is a Mustang roll off the line then me trying to get focus on the time display so its not worth uploading them.

The dark gray 5.0 stang sorta pictured in the first pic under "mustangs mustangs mustangs" From Pickups plus cars is a local to me guy that has helped with my mark and is a local board member. He went 180 today he said (it is a mostly stock new gt with a blower

I've heard about the Texas Mile about 4 years ago and maybe one day, I might attend it . Thanks for sharing.

I like how you were able to provide relevant captions for every pic you took.

Did anyone notice the crack on Revan Racings silver Mustang D/S disc brake (pic #9) ?

Nice dude. Talked to him yesterday. My buddy is looking at getting that same lower rear valence for his GT. Think its a Roush part if I remember right.
There were people from all over the place. Guy in the AMG65 drove from Illinois. I tried to find him after his last run cause when the car shifted to second it had a very loud pop, like a backfire with a little metal ting to it and he pulled off the track. Hope he didnt pop the motor. Wish I would have taken a picture of that engine cause it looked sick with the two large air-to-water intercoolers. Think the Benz was making 780 rwhp and almost 1000 rwtq.

I did and mentioned that in the caption. I wanted a nice shot showing off the HRE Carbon wheel and noticed the crack. Nobody was around except one dude set up next to them. I asked if the car was gonna run again and he said it was. I pointed out the crack and he said he wasnt sure if they knew but thought they did. Never saw the car run though so I would like to hope I saved someone by pointing that out but they prolly already knew.

Track was bad and using that rotor this weekend could have been very nasty.
Fortunatly there were only two wrecks. The GTM and a bike on Friday. Was doing like 249 and locked the rear tire and went down. Punctured lung, broken rib, bruised liver, broken ankle and road rash. Sounds bad but hes lucky to be alive. Think about hitting the ground doing almost 250mph...... yikes.

Yeah but is that track ever good?
First time they ran on it. They used to run at Goliad but the shut down area was deemed too small when cars were breaking 250. This track has a better shut down area but the track itself leaves something to be desired. There is a rapid 4" drop near the end that was messing with people. Track is loose too. Not as good as goliad was for spectators too. Nobody could see the 1 mile mark which sucked.

Wow, alot of sick looking cars! That Ferrari is damn sexy! One day, I hope to attend it, and just be in awe lol. I believe the blue Challengers blower, is a Magna Charger. Always thought they had weird looking blowers...

Great Pics and write up man! I'm gonna have to head out there sometime to watch!!

I hope that GT-R isn't spraying. He might blow the welds on the intake!
F&F quote FTMFW!!!! Using on the wrong car FTMFL!!! :p

There was an early 90's Eclipse there running 180mph though. Every pass we waited for the crank to walk but it held together.

There was even a Skyline motor in a 240SX that I thought would be a beast. Thing never broke 130. :( Huge turbo and fully gutted but never seemed to get any boost.

I just thought that FF quote kinda was appropriate to anything with a sheet metal intake.
