Test & Tune Tonight 10-1-10

Cool beans! Your camera mount threw me off for a second. Thought you had an uber soft bouncy suspension.

Love the car, wish mine was that fast..... and clean.

Always with the "Lincoln Continental". What is it with those announcers? lol

Glad she's back up and running well.

Thanks, Guys! I am real happy that it is back in action, with no trouble :)

Here are the time slips from last night

ok i am not track fluent so in the 1/8th mile, one of your times was an 8.1, my buddy told me, i think this is what he told me, to take your 1/8th mile time of 8.1, divide it by 2 which is 4.05 and add that to the 8.1 to get a rough idea of your 1/4 mile time which in your case would be a 12.15 e.t roughly is this correct or close enough?

Times by 1.54 (most cars are very close) for the time and add 21 to the MPH.

Thanks All! :) There are some calculators out on the web that can translate a 1/8 mile into a 1/4 mile time to get an idea. My car does best on the big end of the track when the rpms are 5500 and up. lol It is pulling like a freight train up there. :)

I might be going to Atlanta dragway this upcoming Saturday for some more testing. That is a 1/4 mile track, so that will take all the guess work out of it.

Hey Mike, what RPM do you shift the car at and how much more does the tach climb before the shift is initiated? I tried manual shifting on mine but kinda mess it up cause the car takes a few hundred RPMs before it initiates the change.

I was experimenting with the shifting that night, since I have never tried manual shifting.

The first pass - the in car video, was shifting at 6k. It was also the slowest of the night.

The second pass was shifting at 6500. It never made it to third gear during the pass. I went through the traps in second gear. I have 410's btw.

Third pass was 6700, and was the best pass of the night. The torque converter was stalled and launched at 2k in the third pass. The 60' suffered though.

The rev limiter is set at 7300 rpm. Even shifting at 6700, it did not hit the limiter. I will try 7000 rpm shifting at Atlanta Dragway this weekend if the weather is good, and see if I hit it then. I also want Aric to give me another manual shift tune with the tc lock up turned on to see if that helps any.

Going back to the track tomorrow night or Saturday morning. Not sure yet which track though. Weather looks good both days. I talked to Ryan this morning, and asked him if Aric could load another tune to my xcal for me.

This tune will be the same as the manual shift tune I currently have, but will lock up the torque converter. The one in the xcal now is tc unlocked all the time. I just need to know what the car will do when compared to the unlocked manual shift tune.

I plan to run two classes at SSHS10 - Street Outlaw, and Pro Street 12.0 index, and need to have as many options available to me as possible :)

More to come... :)

Just got back from Aric's with the new manual shift tune. This one will lock the torque converter right after I shift it into 3rd. On my way to Atlanta Dragway now to try it out. I will post some videos when I get home. :)

Well, Here it is lol :) The good, the bad, and the ugly. Just too daggum hot out today for The Mark. Each pass went the wrong way by around three 10ths. I tried to go around an hour between runs, but it showed a outside temp of 90* in the car for the third run, and I am sure tons of timing was being pulled. So, not much learned other than the car does not like it in the heat.

First run was with the manual shift lock tc in 3rd tune, second run was with the manual shift tune unlocked tc, and the third run was with the manual shift lock tc in 3rd tune again.

I stalled the torque converter all three runs around 2000rpm - pushed the car into the second beam as hard on the brakes as I could. The red light on the second pass, I had push the car so hard I deep staged and turned off the first light.

Here is a video, and some pictures complements of Wendy :)
