swapping struts?

whats up everyone. this morning i took my car up to the shop to have my new(used) bags put in, replace the lower control arm and outer tie rod, and have an alignment done. as they started opening everything up the guy noticed the bags were not 100% identical. my leaky bags have a white plastic cap on the bottom of them and my new ones dont have a plastic cap, but a black metal rod that is the bottom of the strut. i told them to go ahead and put them in but do i have anything to worry about? the guy acted like it might mess up my ride height

would there be any problems with gen1 struts on a gen2?

Just weight and potential binding. The Gen II (plastic) are a lighter improved design. But they will function the same.

^ I heard that but they felt pretty much the same as my old stock for me. Granted I was going new OEM from old OEM. But I expected much and felt nothing.

The difference has been stated but it's not noticeable.

the gen 1 struts have a steel structure, the gen 2 have a plastic structure, thats the difference, and the only one.

I think nonbinding is a big difference in ride personally o god of gods and I have friends who have gone from good gen 1 struts to good gen 2 struts
from what they said the gen 2 struts are a smother ride less sporty feeling you might say

i dont think there is a difference in ride at all, but dont listen to me, ive only been spending the last 11 years in these damn cars. the only difference i notice is air vs coil springs, but not gen 1 to gen 2. just my opinion.

Right now i have gen 1 struts in my gen 2...and trust me it rides just the same.
