Well not to start this up again but, I went to my forum for my cosworth and heres what I came up with dont tear to much because i figured this is what would be said I just didnt wanna say it my self
"Incidentally, there's no way in hell you're pulling anywhere near 1 g in the corners with a Mark VIII. I don't know how you're measuring, but it's simply not possible."
"To put things in perspective, a fully prepped club racer running coilovers and R-compound tires doesn't even approach 1 g continuous. That's slicks & wings touring car territory."
"My modified Cossies will outhandle my 500E even with the big rubber I have on the 500E (275 35 18's rear, 245 40 18's front) and the 500E also known as "the legend" is fairly famous for it's handling and power, as possibly the finest sedan Mercedes ever built...Not actually claiming that it is....but that's it's reputation. They are like go-carts in comparison"
For a 15 year old hunk of American iron, that car sure was able to hold it's own. Plenty of power, had some good, wide rubber on it as well as sway bar upgrades and a few other bits and pieces. For a Lincoln, it was handling surprisingly well and also cornering way better than I would have ever expected.
"I actually had a Mark VIII until spring of this year, when I finally had to make some room in the vehicle park for new arrivals

. I don't have a comparison to the Cossie, as I never had the chance to chase one across a track, but I have raced a 3.2 AMG (with slight mods, but nothing too crazy) and there is no doubt in my mind that I'd do a way better time in the W201 than I ever could in the Mark VIII, no matter how much respect I do have for the Mark VIII."
and last
"I'm in the camp of "no chance". There's no way a Mark VIII can out-handle a 16V - even bone stock. I've never driven any American car short of a 'vette that had anywhere near the poise and agility of a 16V. Maybe you can achieve decent testing numbers with such mods (and I also doubt his claims), but in the real world there's just no comparison when it comes to how the car reacts under various changes in attitude and input. The balanced 16V is very forgiving, while the heavily modded Mark VIII would likely have a tendency to bite you in the butt when pushed."
