Probably a stupid question, however I am looking for the quick answer..

Cruising the highway or regular driving, coming to a stop the car (rarely) sometimes starts to surge like it wants to stall, It seems to be like a possible vacumm leak but this is not occuring everytime I apply the brakes, and if I give it gas, the hesitation goes away instantly. there is not loss of power or mileage.

Could this be infact a Vacumm issue? or possibly a much deeper gremlin such as Fuel pump, or other electrical issue thats is starting to rear its ugly head.? Could this also be a precurser to a trans issue?

Thanks
Bill

My 97 did something like that just coming up to stop, it was the TC solenoid in the trans keeping the TC locked up too long, and it would bog the motor, almost like coming to a stop in a manual still in 5th gear with the clutch engaged.

you know I had a similar though, I thought the TC was locking up, where should I look to find the TC selenoid? how dificult to replace? is this an internal component?
Thanks

Bill my 94 that blew up was doing the same thing before the 98 trans swap. The car had to be heated up first and then when letting off the gas and coasting, the motor would bog down like it just wanted to shut off. I swapped out everything I could think of. That's what made me go after the injectors next, thinking it might be them but mine was heat related.

I was told after the explosion that it was a stopped up cat. I miss it but then again, it was stressing me out and I'm glad the thing blew up. Now I don't have to worry about why it was bogging and I got a new garage out of it too.

I'm not saying that it's not your transmission but that would be my last thought because you're describing the same symptom the 94 had. Now it's bogged for good. If you start getting hesitation when pressing the gas, then you will have the same problem I had. Again, mine was heat related and I was told that one of the cats were stopped up and or it was something electrical. The one thing I never swapped out was the EDIS module and I had a spare. Under the drivers strut tower cover. Someone on here also mentioned the same thing and said it was their PCM that was the problem.

possible iac

I'm not getting any CEL.. I replaced the IAC 3 months ago,, BTW what a PITA.
anyway. the car does not idle different, its only when I'm coming to a stop and its happening more pronounced now. I have no problem when under acceleration or sitting at an idle.

I think its the TCC selenoid.. I'm trying to find it now.. very hard to find if your looking for it local... Rock auto seems to have it but it will take a few days for me to get it. I also dont want to pay 30 for overnight shipping either.

Thanks

Updated..

Well, I think I my have had a problem with the PCV.. cleaned it and the MAF, the problem that was there originally has all but stopped.. A day after I cleaned the PCV and MAF, the surging happened 2 times, then it happened 1 time the next day and then its completely gone hasn't happened in 5 days and I just got back from Lancaster approx 350Mile round trip..
Any thoughts? could this have been from a clogged PCV? MAF fouled up cause a sudden drop in RPM to make it seem to want to stall? Could I have just saved a few buks on unnecessary repairs with the trans?
