I am almost positive this has been discussed many times but i couldnt find anything on here. Now i know that the gen 1s are indeed faster:D but what is the reasoning for it? Exactly what are the differences? I think the gen 2s are to happy looking for me but i just dont want to be dissapointed with gettin one instead of another gen 1. There are soooo many 2nd gens around here its tempting. Please let me know.

I have read, from a few sources, that the gen 1 has a better flowing intake manifold, less restrictive exhaust manifolds, more aggressive computer tuning (particularly early gen 1s) and a slightly lower curb weight.

Interesting i always thought that the intake man would have been better on a gen 2

no the 1st gen intakes are deff better flowing, people have even cut them open and ported them and tig welded them back together, but to me, thats a huge waste of time!

You would think so, right? Not sure why they changed it - maybe for improved drivability and an easily accessible throttle body and IAC. A FoMoCo mystery...

So is the Cobra intake worth it on a gen I or more for genII?.....other than just intake tube placement. What about between Diff. genIs say 93 to 95 or96?

They changed the intake manifold to improve gas milage, and there is no doubt that gen1 is the better performer out of the two. But the gen2 has an improved tranny, one of the main probs of the gen1s was the tranny. I chose the gen2 for the better tranny, hids, and its easier to find with the LSC package. Although I wish that I had the more aggressive tune of the gen1.
but its nothing that a LMS chip cant fix.

Cobra intake would be more worth while on a gen 2, although i hear its a pretty big job to swap, plus you would want to improve the exhaust flow also, to make it worthwhile. Probably should do gears and dynotune too!

Not sure about all the various gen 1 differences - the early ones such as the 93s had the most aggressive computers and the 96 has OBD II with slightly different IMRC actuators. At some point, the valve springs were changed to the more robust 'beehive' type. When this was, im not sure.

I believe the 93 is faster, maybe the 94, But the 95 and 96 are not faster than a gen II.

The difference in speed is so minute, It really doesn't matter!

i was talkin to geno today and he said the difference is that the trans is slushier and the comp tune is less aggressive, As one mentioned i is so common around here to find lsc's in gen 2 and i just found 2 96s for 6 and 7 grand, way to steep no doubt

I like the 2nd Gen, I do not care if it is slower out of the box then a 1st gen. One day I will own one for now I will be happy with my 94.
