Stt

Is there a way to overide the safety that only lets you start in 2nd? What if I want to start in 1st?

It's not a "safety". The 2nd gear start in SST was to avoid the gas guzzler tax. Mash the peddle and you'll get 1st. Specifically, you'll need >60% throttle.

Is this for all years? Mine starts in 1st and shifts down to 1st when I stop on while on a gear above 3.

what ls4me said.

also, that.s one of the biggest differences after the xcal. being able to have 1st gear launches really wakes the car up. and also cleaning up the 3-4 shift.

i recommend getting an xcal.

no - the Gen2 was more fuel efficient (mostly VVT), so it could start in 1st without failing the CAFE rules.

Torrie can do it with the V8s, but not the Gen I V6s

Mine kicks down to 1st at around 1/4 if I tap it quick:confused:

Weird. Even the owner's manual states that it needs greater than 60% throttle to engage 1st gear.

Also, once you get the first gear, you have full capability to shift into first without the 60% throttle punch, until you make your next complete stop.

Could it be cause I am taping it rather than just dropping the pedal down?

If I get on it from a stop and hold it it don't always go to 1st though.

I know it does this cause if I really wanna rip on it I like to keep the throttle at mid range rather then hitting it to the floor.

As long as the tap is over 60% that will work. I've done it many times.

But like I said, its not 60% cause I like to keep it at mid throttle so I can keep pulling rather than wast gas going nowhere. Could this be a problem with my trans or maybe something the dealer did when they did the flash update?

When I tap it I do it just as a light changes so I can take off in that gear from a stop.

As easy as the pedal depress you might be getting 60% without even knowing it. Mine does the same thing, has forever. It would also be 60% total throttle. If you're already at 50% it would only need another 10% to engage 1st. I'll bet your tap is closer to 20% extra.

Alright!!! :D.. You gen 1 guys get to rev your engines without our throttle by wire and us gen 2 guys can start in first. ;)

Gen I has the neutral RPM limit as well. The only difference is that they can hit it faster. In any event, I thought this thread was talking about rev'ing in gear. I think the in-gear limit for gen I and gen II is also the same (6500?).

It's somewhere in that area. I've had mine to 6800-7000 a couple times. After that I dialed the limit back to stock in my tune. No need to be spinning bearings.

Hey!!! I just realized its JWerner2's video :D. Gen 1 I believe.

Ummm, all I did was flip the throttle open from under the hood. God Im glad I got rid of that shlt filter!

Hopefully soon now that I have about a zillion back roads I can have a accomplice take some clips of some fly bys and sh*t.

Oh. I yeah I looked at it again. I saw you walk back out from the car. I thought gen 1 guys could rev their engine cause their pedal is direct and not the throttle by wire gen 2s have. How'd do do it from the outside?

What do you have now instead of that filter?

For right now since I just couldnt hold off any longer I got one of those APCs but I am upgrading once this one needs a cleaning to either a KKM or equivalent by design. The difference in how much better the car breathed and the amount of miles I gained per gallon was immediately noticeable, so was the pull. I actually might be able to make a new clip without all that wind if I can find my Flip.

The one in the clip is a sh*ty K&N POS!

Alax, dude,... right where the tube meets the TB there is a little plate to flip open connected to a wire.

Maybe thats just on gen 1 cause I checked and then cheked againg after your post and there is nothing I can see to open ii.
