How much travel front to back is ok for the front wheels. My strut rod bushings are new. But for some reason the left wheel can be moved a bit more than the right one either by moving it with my foot, or seeing it from outside when brakes are applied.

I was wondering, is it possible that the alignment guy didnt tighten the bushings in the front well?? Are those adjustable, ones that attach to the frame, not to the strut?

Thanks

None.

How new and what brand?

Sure you dont have a bad ball joint or control arm bushing?

Anything is possible.

Yes.

I have been hearing allot on unkind things about Moog SRB failing. Like laser said should be tight with no movement. Put a jack under the control arm and get the wheel off the ground. Then give her a good shake down and report back with the results.

moog strut rod to k member = fail.
but oem is nearly impossible to find.

I thought moog is good? Bushing looks normal, nice and fat. Just looks like its not compressed too much when the car is just sitting.

Yes.[/QUOTE

Front end is new. I rebuilt it with all moog parts. less than 5k miles on it all.

the moog SR bushings are failing in as little as 3-6 months.

get black rubber ones from parts store, they are close to Ford in durability and are cheap too.

This is very frustrating. I am getting fed up quickly. After rebuilding the whole suspension using moog parts, car still rides like :q:q:q:q. Arnott struts are not helping either. I already have close to a grand in front end, and still need Ford Struts.
And now this.

Any reviews on Polly bushings from Super Coupe site?

Moog is great for everything except the front SRB. Some have had good luck but I notice its people that dont put many miles on their cars. I have killed Moorg SRBs in under 3000 miles. Autozone sucks too. Not sure what brand to use now since the OEM ones are no longer available.
I bought the very last set Max had for my last Mark, the supercharged one.

I've said it before, and I'll say it till I'm 90 years old.

I've had no problems with MOOG SRB's. Had them on my Grey 98, my Orange 95', the Blue 5-speed 94, and the current 95' as well.

I found that the Moogs need alot more torque down than the OEM's.That maybe the difference.

shrug.

The nice part about the Moogs........for me anyway is that IF they fail, O'Riley's will reimburse me VIA a Labor claim for half the labor, and the cost of the alignment.

Dave88LSC, Check with the store you bought them from. They MAY have a Labor Claim procedure you can invoke. They will fight you on it, but stand your ground.

You should trust me on this.

I got everything from Rock Auto.

Bushing looks fine. I am thinking it wasnt torqued down enough. It just doesnt look compressed even a bit. If I torque both sides down a bit more, equally, will it throw off alignment?

Thanks

slightly.......but not enough to matter in the short term.

I would definatly get it re-done to be sure.

Another thing I !@#*HIGHLY*#@! reccomend is to purchase a lifetime alignment deal through somewhere like Firestone. It'll pay for itself the second time you use it.

I have to alignment places that I use. Nothing special, but the guys there take at least an hour to do alignment. But at this point I think Ill look for some other place with good reputation.

Thanks for input guys!

I used to get all my alignments done at a Sears Auto store. Their alignments are backed for 6mths or 6000 miles. And if for any reason you need it re-looked at during that time it is free. They do not have to know you replaced something at all and never ask. As long as you are in that warranty window, they have to comply. Now I have a buddy of mine that opened his own Firestone shop and I go to him for free now.
