Steel Coils

!! As I stated in my previous post, that is a DEW98 Lincoln LS/Jag S-Type/Thunderbird front suspension.

Hmmm.....I knew that the Mark VIII's shared the platform with the Thunderbird. Didn't know that the LS and Jag S-type were the same!

Need to finish the second one...... ;)

Saturn, did you build that from scratch? If so, when putting a random coil where do you get spring rates? How does it compare to other purpose built units? It looks like beautiful workmanship.

Yeah, it's from scratch. Stock Bird shock shell, Bilstein insert for a 3000GT. I picked a spring a T-bird guy used in his Koni coil over set up. 10" length, 650lbin. It may or may not be a bit much.

Thanks. :)

I paid $237 shipped off ebay for my vogtland supercoupe springs and they were worth every penny.
those are 1'' lowered? that's what I should have gotten and still may; my 1.5" drop has me bottoming out several times a day- feels great skidding on the K-frame, makes it shiney...I live in a hilly area and have too many speed bumps in the way

I paid 46 bucks for my coils and struts and they were close to new. got them off a mark and they are whatever brand has the red springs. local pull apart has weekend sells and i got lucky ;)

Red coils are Strut Master.. I wouldn't consider that lucky

You wont be ready for how high your mark will sit on stock thunderbird springs..ive seen some guys put even SC springs in their mark viii on a good set of shocks and it sits like a ford f250..looks retarded in my opinion. Deffinetly save for somethig better, if your goal is to keep air ride find some new front air shocks..there are still a few around..ask nolimit95 he seems to be up on where to find them. Or find a JY mark that is still on its factory bags that arent deflated and arent dry rotted.

I just swapped the fronts in 2 hours on my 95. Kit was $170.00 on ebay and the ride is much improved. Spend a little extra and save yourself headaches in the future.
