Hey long weekend. Decided to spray my bumpers the clear had pealed, black mark issue, I sanded all the rest of the clear off with 320 sanded down to the plastic just in a few spots, Sanded again with 600 then 800 taped it off and sprayed with the dupcolor. I am on my 4th coat and it seems splotchy plan on wet sanding with 1500 letting it dry good, one - two more coats then clear?

sound right?

Is black the hardest color to paint or what?

black isnt hard to spray at all, the problem is you are spraying a urethane bumper with spray cans, no matter what you do it wont look good. and you are supposed to spray a primer first and use flex additive. your wasting your time and money using a spray can.

Pics?

I sprayed my grille with Duplicolor enamel once - I even used flex additive and primer. Looked like sh*t after 3 weeks - total waste of time.

If memory serves me correctly, Chadly did it with success and had both pics and directions.............

my front bumper needs done but i don't know if i am down with spray bombing it? i did my grill gen 2 and it looks the same as the paint everywhere else (black) but i don't think i would do my bumper.

thats correct he did. but he didnt paint the urethane bumper covers, he did a composite header panel and aluminum hood. if you sand a urethane bumper down and go to the bare urethane by mistake, no paint in the world will look good over it without prepping it right. painting bumpers on the marks is not all that easy to do unless its done right, but rattle can paint and rattle can clear will last about 6 weeks on a urethane bumper before it starts to look like flat black primer was applied with a roller!

I sprayed my red Mark bumper 2 years ago with the proper 3 stage paint and a spray gun. I did all the prep work and filled some pits and low spots with special spot putty for bumpers. It still looks great.

I sprayed my green bumper with a rattle can last year. Just a little bit of sanding, Duplicolor paint and clear, The pits are still there. It still looks better than it did, but it's not as nice as the red bumper.

Thx for the clarification Jamie. My friend and his son are finally painting my car starting June 5th. When done will put up pics. Seems like forever since I've been waiting. Jamie, KK good to talk w/ you guys again.

My only hang up with painting right now it I WON'T paint without a fresh air respirator and they are $300+

Jamie, got both knees replaced 4-13. Just relearned to walk, w/out knee pain. A new world. Thx for asking. Welcome Frogman, glad you're still safe.
