I took my car to 2 diferrent mechanics, one being my friend. Both places narrowed down my problem with the fan/compressor to the VCRM as I would expect (being that they all go bad)... They tested EVERYTHING! Especially at my friend's shop. His tech went through a printed diagram of my VCRM & there's power & feed to all cables. He tells me that FORD no longer makes new VCRM's & I had 2 options, take it to FORD for a rebuild (takes 2 weeks) of my VCRM or take it to some guy a few miles from my house that fixes computers, electrical components, etc... on cars. The guy tested not only my VCRM but one of the other 3 I have. BOTH are in PERFECT working order. I called my friend & he tells me there's nothing else left to test other than the car's main computer. Tomorrow I reach my decision depending on the outcome, Either the fix will remain in my budget & I go ahead & repair it or I sell the car & it will become someone else's problem! I'll keep everyone posted!:(

Got $15 and shipping?

I don't have a dime but if push comes to shove I'll somehow come up with it. The only problem is that I think some items on this car are VIN specific. In other words, they make a group of them only matching 1993 Mark 8, then another one fitting other specific years, etc... What are the odds your computer will work on my car?

alex i saw on facebook you said vcrm's are vin specific i dont know who said that to you but thats far from true. good luck hopefully now it will just be the computer, i'll give you one free if you pay the shipping i have a ton of them.

"feed"? PCM control voltage signals?

IF that were true, and the VCRM is good, then there wouldn't be a problem.

IF the VCRM is good....

...and IF it's getting power....

...then the control signal from the PCM needs to be checked. Check it at the VCRM input and also at the PCM output.

There could just be a loose or bad connection or wire between the PCM and the VCRM, but the only way to know for sure is to check the VCRM control signal at both ends.

Have you ever had the PCM out of the car? Has the connector been checked to make sure that it's tight?

If I had a 93 wiring diagram, I'd give you the pins to check, but alas, I don't have anything older than '96.

Ok guys, lets do the following... tomorrow I go back to the shop where my poor car has been sitting for 3 days now. Tomorrow is "Woman's wedding dress day" so my future wife, my sister, grandma, mother, her mom, etc... are GONE ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the entire day to come up with a solution! I know my friend & his tech are going to bust @ss tomorrow for a few hours making sure their verdict is final. If it comes to that then I'm taking the car home with me AS IS again & then we can talk Jamie. I tend to agree with LVC members being that you've witnessed it first hand but I'm tired of being pulled in different directions by different people with different opinions.

There is ONE HUGE difference though... Mechanics are out to get your money, LVC members aren't.

Jamie, what I was explained is that you can only fit VCRM's from other 93's onto my 93. There are certain Vin # series created each year & those VCRM's are specific for that year. I have 2 93's & 2 other 95's. I have FOUR VCRM's right now.

Guys, Why do I have a feeling it's something soooooo stupid that no one can find! (Including me!) I have a feeling there may be a faulty wire somewhere underneath the fuse box under the hood! Both mechanics have checked for power & they say it's fine! It's just crazy! The a/c pressure switch was tested, other components were tested... I don't get it!

Each PCM has a 4 character "catch code" printed on a big sticker on the connector, which is visable after you remove the plug that attaches to the PCM. That's what you need to match.

Ill pay the shipping if need be. Don't wanna see anyone have to whore out a great mark cause they are in a jam.

Thanks man... Hopefully I can afford it. Let's hope I don't get charged much for all the diagnosing!

Thanks for the input... I will make sure the PCM get's checked out! It hasn't been checked outside of the car!

It has to be checked in the car, in operation, during a time when the fan should come on.

Yes I have a spare out of the 93 I got the kmember from, it was a match for birthdays to my car, so I snagged it..
I was gonna come back on here and tell ya to just pay shipping and you can have it...but others beat me back to that..I only have 1 spare, knowing my luck, I'd mail it off and mine would fail lol

if you have another already...try one of those..-shrug- just read the code, numbers match, plug it in and give the key a turn...

Hope the best for ya man, I know how it is being totally strapped, I just whored myself for $50 on a valve cover gasket and a tuneup job, then got $10 for unlocking my neighbors Ranger, and by the way...those things are a PITA to break into

again...good luck...keep us updated

Ok so bringing everyone up to speed... I'm here at the shop, the guy that works on my car called in sick & they are closed Monday for the holiday. The diagnosing is $60.00 flat rate whether the car is here a day or a month. I had to make a rational financial decision so I decided to stop with the car & proceed with my truck's a/c issue right now instead of the car HOWEVER my car is staying here until they find the problem. Once I leave here today I won't know about my Mark VIII until Tuesday - Wednesday. I will let everyone know what's going on sometime mid week.

Dude that sucks...hopefully you can get everything narrowed down. If you dont find a solution you can try taking it to my family mechanic, the only bad thing is that he only works Mon-Friday. So you'll have to either drop if off or take a day off. They work really good been going to them for 20 years...let me know.

Dude thanks man. Let's see what the outcome is on Tues-Wed. If its too much to fix then I'll give u a call. The biggest reason I want to get my Lincoln running is because I'm traveling 28 miles daily to work. I need to give my truck a break, I will continue to use it to go to.work but I want to use my Lincoln on afternoons once I get home from work & on weekends to go out. This is why I wouldn't want to sell it unless it really becomes a pain in the @ss to maintain.

Well, they are still battling my car. I told them to take their sweet time so they dedicate about an hour & a half per day but they still cant figure out what's wrong! I haven't mentioned what the tech told me about the car's computer. I'm assuming they are leaving that option for last. I'll keep you guys posted.

How are we suppose to help you figure out the problem if you're keepin secrets ...what was said about the ecu?

Read further above... When I took my VCRM's (2 of them) to a separate technician that deals will car computers, modules, relays, etc... He told me that he puts his money on the computer being the problem. He tested both VCRM's & they are working fine & said that the computer probably stopped sending the signal! I took the VCRM's back to my mechanic & told them they were fine but I never told them what that technician said about the computer. That's why Jamie offered me a computer because apparently this is definitely it!

The verdict is in!!!!!!!!!!! Turns out just before they closed shop last night they narrowed it down to the ECM. Jamie... You & I need to speak! As soon as you get back from your nice trip you need to read either your PM or the message I just sent you on FB. Which ever one you read first!
