Slammed rear end. Airbags or..?

So if I let my car sit long enough, sometimes in just an hour or so, the rear end will be practically sitting on the ground. At first I figured it was just leaky bags, until I noticed that sometimes I could leave it for a day or more and the rear end wouldn't sag at all, leading me to believe that maybe it's not leaky bags.

What is everyone's guess for my problem, and how should I check to determine the true cause of the problem? It's a '97.

im subscribed as i have the exact same issue, Sometimes the Check suspension light comes on sometimes not.
Everytime, if I reset the system it will pump back up no problem.
It happens 10 min into a trip or maybe 40 min into a trip sometimes not at all.
Dunno, Maybe a sticky vent solenoid.

That's what I was thinking. Mine always refills itself too, and I never get the check suspension light. Hopefully we can get some tips!

replace the rear bags they are cracked, they sometimes dont leak because of where the crack is in the air bladder, if they are totally full the bag folds over itself and seals the crack until its moved or till the air ride vents itself. you need bags period.

You know I was thinking the passenger rear was bad as it seemed to lean a bit, While I was down with DLF, I asked him to look at it, he seems to think the bags are good too, he thought it may be the vent solenoid.
I think for Sh!ts and giggles, I'll put the spare bag I have in the passenger rear.

well i dont mean to make anyone seem dumb or wrong but you cannot tell if a bag has a leak just by looking at it, i have 3 struts in my shop that all look brand new and all 3 of them are junk, they leak so bad you can hear it, and all 3 have cracked bladders but to the naked eye you'll never find them. i have been doing this for so long i am hardly ever wrong i have seen everything these cars can throw at me, but in 12 years how could i possibly have learned anything! throw in a spare bag i bet it solves the problem, unless of course your spare bag is garbage too.

Lol, You dont Know anything Jamie!!! J/K anyway, what could it hurt to put it in, I'll get to it sometime this weekend possibly, and see what happens from there. I'd be willing to say it might be bad as the passenger side has 175K on it. the drivers side sh!t the bed last year and I got these bags from you anyway Jamie... I figured since it was working fine then why change out both at the same time when I could hold it for a spare.. I think it was the smart move then..

With the door open, that's the only way the rear of mine stay's aired up, otherwise I have to let it air up again in the morning.

yours is different yours drops when running his is overnight, or at least sounds that way. but yours could still be a fold in the bags

it may be the vent solenoid

not unless the bag and the main vent at the compressor are stuck open at the same time

With the door open, that's the only way the rear of mine stay's aired up, otherwise I have to let it air up again in the morning.

when you close the door the car drops to "park/hwy height" and that exposes a fold in the bag allowing it to leak, get bags or you will kill the comp keeping them up while you are driving

Yeah, that sucks. If I were to lower it a bit maybe it wouldn't leak?

lowering makes them leak more unless they are all brand new.
