Okay, an easy one,,.,,, I simply want to change the mufflers for a better sound. Its a Gen 1 , NON- LSC.. I am NOT removing the resonator or 3rd cat., JUST the mufflers. what have people done. cherry bombs? muffler deletes? ANSA tips? etc/// give me some suggestions.

thanx, JOHN

i deleted my muffs. it sounded ok at best. about 2 months ago i went 2.5 inch pipe removed the 3rd cat and did an x pipe. it gave me an entirely new outlook on my car. if you are going to do it, well.... do it. warning it is loud as hell when the imrcs open up, you can actually hear it.

I done a simple muffler delete on the 94 I had and loved the sound and did not ever smell any exhaust inside the car. I cut just before the muffler and left it as is. 94's don't have cutouts so it really wasn't noticed but if I done it to the 95, I would extend the pipe to the cutout and put nicer tips on. Muffler delete will give you drone inside. Thought I'd throw that in there.

Mine sounded great with just the Magnaflow race series mufflers out back. A hair quiet for me, but I still got lots of compliments about it. I've since gone with a 3rd cat and resonator delete...

I cut the mufflers off my '96 and welded in straight pipes with the stock tips. Sounds fantastic and still passes inspection because the resonator counts as a muffler.

Believe it or not, my '97 LSC with true duals, H-pipe, and cherry bombs is a LOT louder than the '96 with no mufflers!

Simply putting mufflers in place with resonator and 3rd cat is most a waste and running no mufflers at all sounds like ass....i went magnaflows out back resonator delete and 3rd cat deleted with a hpipe in its place, car sounds awesome no drone, and a decent tone

Probably.

and running no mufflers at all sounds like ass....

I have to disagree here. My '96 sounds fantastic with resonator in place and no mufflers. I've had numerous compliments on how good it sounds.

I'll bet that does sound good:)

I agree that they sound good with just the mufflers removed and I'm sure it helps a little. When I bought mine it had the stock exhaust with Cherry Bomb replacements with chrome tips in the rear. To my surprise it sounded good. And you could hear it but not loud at all but a little louder than stock. To bad you don't live close enough I would give them to you.

Well my personal preference thinks it sounds like ass....and im sure others feel the same way...if i had to choose between quiet or no mufflers id take stock anytime...just doesnt sound right, and :q:q:q:q...what are a pair of decent mufflers worth? I got my magnaflows from a 2003-2004 cobra that a guy took off to go with flowmasters for $75 for the pair...if you cant afford mufflers you cant afford to own a mark viii

:confused:Who said anything about not being able to afford mufflers? I paid a muffler shop to cut the third cat off the '97 LSC and weld in an H-pipe and cut the stock mufflers off and weld in a pair of cherry bombs. That wasn't exactly cheap. I can't afford to do stuff like that all the time, mind you, but once in a while I can. As far as the muffler delete, I like the sound. It's a matter of taste. It's a low, deep growl. It doesn't drone. And it's much quieter on the inside than the cherry bombs on the LSC.

I chopped mine off a couple years back. I did it cause I could, with plans to throw something back there shortly thereafter. Never happened. I'm going to get the muffs welded back up before winter. It doesn't sound awful but i'd prefer it quiter or more controlled.

Never said you couldn't afford just said if your gonna cut them off put something other then a piece of straight pipe in there place just simply adding mufflers can be had cheap that's all and any day of the week I'd rather run a muffler then no mufflers

The statement wasnt meant for you, it was more meant in general....if you cut muffers off to get a growl, spend a few extra bucks and put some mufflers, sounds better....i still stick to my original point, muffler delete and muffler delete only sounds like ass....

and if you heard my mark viii, you would agree yours sounds like ass...my car sounds badass....and i get compliments everywhere i go...

Ah. I see.

if you cut muffers off to get a growl, spend a few extra bucks and put some mufflers, sounds better

In your opinion. Sometimes, a car can sound good with no mufflers. Like I said, my '96 has a quieter, more subtle rumble with no mufflers than the '97 LSC has with cherry bombs. I like it. And so does pretty much everyone else who hears it. But I can't decide what I like better, the quiet subdued rumble of the '96 or the loud brash "blatt" of the LSC's cherry bombs. The non-muffled '97 has a very restrained but powerful sound that I like, while the LSC with cherry bombs sounds like a classic 1960's musclecar, loud and mean, which I like also. So to me, they're both awesome! But, once again, matter of opinion.

In your opinion. Myself and many others disagree. And that's our opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Post a vid. I'd like to hear it. If it makes mine sound bad, it must be frakkin' incredible!!!! I can't wait to hear it! (Honestly, no sarcasm intended. I would like to hear what it sounds like)
