Ok, im tired of my front wheels looking like crap from all of the brake dust. what pads have the least amount??? ive seen some things about kevlar pads but not sure where to get. so basically i need your opinions on the best pad out there with very minimal dust

thanks in advance

porterfield-brakes.com

dustless, carbon-kevlar

I'm on my fifth set - sixth is sitting on the workbench

sweet thanks, are they as advertised??. i searched the site and im a lil confused, do u have the part number??

ok so the race pads have the kevlar compound. The R4. my question is are these ok for street driving? i drive pretty hard, and brake even harder.

I run EBC Red Stuff on the fronts and have NO dust even after over a month without washing the car. They do squeal a bit from time to time though.

Extreme Performance ceramic brake pads. I never have brake dust. Even with the large chrome wheels. A little squeaking, but that is normal for ceramic pads.

The ones you want are the Porterfield R4-S pads. Best pads I have ever used, hands down. Dead quiet, almost no brake dust and very easy on your rotors. Only minus is that they need a little heat in them before they bite. Your first stop (or lack of) of the day if it's cold can be a liitle disturbing. All it takes is a couple of normal stops before all is well. You soon adjust.

Few months now. Probably since end of August? I forget to be honest. They squeal a lot, too. I think I'm gonna swap 'em out for something else. Maybe the Porterfields. We'll see.

You must drive more than I do or something. I just got back from a 450 mile round trip and its been about 2 weeks since the car got washed last and there's still no dust. Some road grime, but no dust from the pads.

Mine also squealed like there was no tomorrow, until I sprayed the crap out of the backs of the pads with anti squeal stuff. Now its only every once in a while when they're cold or I have to hit the brakes really hard. And I think that may be because of the rotors. Which are just plain pissing me off now but that's another story.

I have the sport slotted rotors and to this day, 4k on 'em maybe, they still make noise while driving. Maddening.

I am using the NAPA ceramic pads. After about 2 weeks you can see a lite dusting. They don't make any noise and stop really good with the driiled rotors. But your biggest bang for the buck will be the stainless steel brake hoses. That will make the biggest difference in the stopping of your LS. What I know now, that would have been the first upgrade done.

AMEN brother! I put them on the '06 and couldn't believe the difference, even though I have them on my '00. The pedal feel is nice and firm, just like it should be. I am using Raybestos Quiet Stop and get very little dust. Wheel Wax also helps keep the dust off.

I use EBC reds on the BBK on my SVT Focus, they still dust, bloody good pads though.

So you think 'you' get dust on your LS? Do you have 14" front and 13" rear rotors? If we're talking about brake dust, now 'I' can talk about brake dust.......and it gets wiped off daily. You couldn't pay me to leave brake dust on my car a month, I think I'd lose my mind or something....

:-)

Same here, exact same setup also. Its kind of a hard swishing almost like a grinding but not really and what gets me is that I dont feel it in the pedal either.

Since I took my summer wheels off for winter I havent cleaned my stockers and they are almost blackend from dust.

Actually, any ceramic pad will be what you want. I have used NAPA, Raybestos, and EBC, and none of them leave any dust.
The fact of the matter is, almost any pad that is NOT metalic, will be dust free. Its the metal that sticks to the face of the wheel, and if the wheel is not chrome, or raw alloy, the metalic dust will corrode, and pit the surface.

I believe EBC tells us that they will make noise, and that it is normal.
