she runs like a fat cop chasing a doughnut down the street

I have a box of the wires and a new water pump waiting to be hooked up in my garage...i will go with the wires first then decide if I want to bite the bullet on the screamers. It just makes a lot of sense...wider gap...bigger spark...more fuel burned...equates to more power and better fuel economy...as long as you can keep your foot from the bottom of the floor.

I found most of my used or NIB stuff on ebay. I got brand new front and rear addco sway bars for $150. It might take some searching and waiting. When I want a speed part, I spend a long time trying to find it used. Hard to justify high dollar parts on a 20 year-old car that cost me 4gs 7 years ago.

they can be had for $100 new for the pair...just going to buy new.

I was talking about the coils. SCP has them for a $100...I know nobody likes SCP but I have no problem with him. If you are only getting 13 MPG something is wrong...I do a lot of city driving I get 13-14 with bad wires and a geared car. You can follow my advice or not...go get your injectors cleaned professionally.

ive heard that cleaning the injectors doesn't work, but maybe ive heard wrong. the car sat for 11 years and was never driven. what should i do to clean up the engine. ive changed to oil twice in 7 months. oil looked good, but thats all i have done.... tell me what i need to do/get done.

well i just drove up to the store and back...

that message center lies its ass off.
a cold engine runs rich trying to warm up in open loop.
13 on a cold engine in town isn't far off base.
you also should really look at long term averages.

when my mom drove my car years ago, she averaged 18 ish. i only average 16 ish in town. i think it has something to do with my right foot though.

how far do you drive it each time?

last time i checked, mine was off by over 3 mpg.

Well there are many things it could be causing the crap running and poor mileage and since I have no clue as to the cars history I would start with the easy stuff first.
Replace the fuel filter
Clean the MAF
Then rest the computer

See if it helps. If not move on to the next thing which would be O2 and TPS. A slow O2 will cause that problem and wont trip the CEL. If they are Bosch or over 60K miles old or over 10 years old then they should be replaced. Thats normal car maintenance these days.
TPS is cheap and known to cause similar issues.

You also may have dirty and stuck IMRCs. Be a good idea to get new intake gaskets and pull them apart and clean them.

The other alternative is find a shop that has a full scan tool and pay them the $200 to run a full scan that would more then likely point you to the issue.

so, for a fuel filter, cleaner for the MAF, new O2 Sensor and TPS, and intake gaskets... How much in parts am i lookin to get my self in? also how many intakes gaskets are there?

I dont work with Max/Oreillys/Autozone/Rock Auto/Pep Boys/Advance/NAPA which are the places to check for car parts prices.

You have two plenum gaskets. One upper pair and one lower pair.

Clan the MAF before you throw parts at it. Mine was acting similar to yours, cleaned the MAF and runs great.

If you get two new 02's, I would go with Rock Auto OEM Motorcraft 10" wire. I got mine from them. Local Ford parts dept here wanted almost $100 each for them. $45 each from Rock Auto.

ok, well im going to clean out my MAF tomorrow, also taking it up to ford to have the recall done on it.... going to have them pull the codes off the PCM too.

I got the Screamin Demon Coils and the Live wires from SCP. We tuned it up and changed the exhaust (for the second time) at the same time. defenatly ran better but I think it was more the exhaust. The live wires are not the right length and could not be routed like the stock ones. Other than that I've had no complaints. I took my car to see RobertP of Roys Tire and Auto in Carthage N.C.. I meet him on tccoa.com .He has built over half a dozen supercharged Thunderbird in the local area. All running in the 10s to 12s in the quarter. He convinced me to go with the Meth injection. So I went to see him for pointer, instructions and to order the meth injection. He saw the Screamin Demon coil packs and said get rid of those the stock Ford units are the best ??? I know I had already heard bad things about the Accel and MSD coil packs ???
