what are the effects of a broken gasket under the Throttle body..
Would it cause the feeling like a miss, will it cause the IAC error, Could it be the cuase of the Lean bank 1?

Does anyone near Bristol HAVE the damn thing!!!~!! I'm screwed!

cant get the gasket today no one has it, need car for work in the am. old gasket broken..... SOL

You could always buy the gasket material and cut out your own using the old gasket as a template!

It would probably cause a lean code because you're getting un-metered air into the engine.

I have a role of gasket material sitting around for an emergency you should be able to pick it up at any auto store

I have never had a problem getting a gasket from Auto Zone for the throttle body. I have bought 3 that I know of and they always had them in stock.

I went to all the different stores, Autozone, Advanced auto, Strauss discount, Pep boys, bc auto, and even went to the hub stores.
I finally found it at Advanced Auto's hub store like 30 miles away.. all this for a 1.59 item... what a peice..

Anyway, had to replace the IAC, and Its bad, I think the screws got cross threaded,, i ripped my hand apart tighnening it back up. I got one screw really tight so I hope its enough, the other has play but the IAC does not move..

Anyway I assume the next move will be to remove the upper intake and lower intake to get at the IAC and EGR if I should continue to have problems in the future huh..?

how har will that be?

BTW..
What is the proper RPM for the 4.6? 750? its idle is there at 750. and when dropped into gear its down to about 600 to 650.

Seems to have worked pretty good, its quick throttle response and it drops down pretty quick now.

the old IAC was all gunked up with a ton of carbon...
what should I expect to see as a result of the IAC replacement, any increase in response or was that due to the bocsh plat 4 plus...

with a bad IAC you will have problems with the car Idle to low and or stall.
should get off the line better cause it is not being starved for air at idle

consider this your warning, replace those bocsh plugs before one falls apart

damn chicken, now why did you have to go and do that to me....
I dont need to be ripping the car apart anymore this month.. I just want to drive it without the CEL on and the misfire...

seemed to be snappy enough in my driveway, but the real test will be on the open road in the am on the way to work...
Wish me luck!

Will the CEL clear itself if its good now? i started the car about 5 to 6 times and it didnt clear do I have to get a code reader and reset the pcm?
Thanks
Bill

unplug the battery for about 15min and that will clear all codes
if then it comes back get them read again
if you dont want to do that take it to auto zone and ask them to clear the codes

it may not happen right away but nine times out of ten it will eventually spit a plug.....ask me how i know

seen it several times at work and it happened on my 97 bird, but mine sucked it into the cylinder, that was fun!!

I know man, youve preached to me about my Triple Platniums for days.....there still in there running strong but im getting good ol copper plugs, new wires and a fresh fuel filter next week since the cars sitting in the storage unit till i get the suspention done.

i thought it was you but the OP obviously hasn't seen my rants on bosch lol

Your 96 is OBDII. It must be reset by a scan tool.

you know I had a feeling about that ... its a hard code right..

Well I made the trip to work this morning, guess what!!!

NO MISS AND NO rough Idle!
I'm wondering if the plugs wernt gapped correctly.. I did them 3 times and they said on my gap tool, .054... anyway since I put in the bosch, (Against Chickens advise) no misfire and quick response... I can only hope not to put one through the hood!

Thanks
I will have to find someone local to clear the code. maybe I'll just unplug the battery and short the hot and ground to reset it.. just a biatch when it has to learn the curve again.. :)
