SANDY: The Aftermath

NY always votes Democrat. Highest taxes. Lowest results. Big on growing gov't depts, not much on infrastructure maintenance. Controlled by unions! All states should be "Right to Work". Lived in NY 20 yrs. Never again!

Isn't Bloombrain a REP? I know at best he is a RINO and least a Republocrat!

Just got power back to my place over night. Been dark and cold here since Monday. Needless to say bored outta my mind. lol That said, I made it out of this very lucky, unlike a lot of people I know and have been reading about.

Driving back this morning from staying at my sister's last night, the scenes outside are like something out of a movie. Huge lines for gasoline, people in shopping center parking lots setting up make-shift clothing/food drops. It's crazy. Hope everyone here in the area made it out of this just mildly inconvenienced.

Ever thought about moving more inland ?
Look for some property with higher elevations ?

... or move to Canada !!!

just got power back now, what a miserable ordeal!

... or move to Canada !!!

HAHAHAH Yuss!!

Tho, Americans wont like living in Canada.
It's Too cold, Guns aren't aloud, and our money is too colourful :p

anyways, I do feel for my american neighbors. Hurricanes are stupidly over powerful, and seeing those pictures really hurts the heart. Im glad everyone on here is ok...

Tho I cant help but wonder, Whats the Lincoln LS Fatality rate after this one?

Alaska is a U.S. state and it gets just as cold as northern Canada.

I thought Canada simply had more stringent regulations, as in ALL firearms have to be registered, versus no guns allowed at all?

Alaska is indeed just as cold as our north west territories. Isn't Alaska mostly just military base operations? I don't see its populace being very high lol

About the guns, (and weapons)
Yes all guns have to be registered. Also there is some restrictions. Usually hunting rifles are permitted. However when not in use, the gun cannot be within easy access i.e. the coffee table lol And must be stored until required for the sport.

You cant carry a hand gun with you where you go, nor in your vehicle. Only time you can have one is for means of transportation (going hunting/sport) and you MUST have your license with you, and they sure as hell cant be loaded.

There is Zero tolerance for 'possession of weapon' in Canada. If an officer even finds a knife in your vehicle, regardless if you have committed an offense or not, you can be considered dangerous and charged with 'possession of weapon'.

You guys need to do something about that. Change your politicians for ones that support gun rights or something.

The difference between being citizens and not subjects.

Yeah, were not allowed to play with guns, too many Canadians shot themselves in the past.

j/k

damn, glad you came out good in the situations, its going to take a long time time to get back anywhere near normal around there.

just got back into the country from a Caribbean cruise for my honeymoon, as we were flying into Miami on Sunday afternoon, the pilot had us look out the left windows about an hour before we landed and you could see the entire storm swirling around, even when the news shows some poor guy out in the crazy winds reporting about the storm, you dont really get a real ideal of just how big the storm is until you see a 100 mile across storm 200 miles away from 30,000 feet up in the air! then you really understand how massive something like that really is!

I have 3 gas stations within 3000 feet of my house. One out of the three will have gas any time of the day. It's the wait that is very discouraging - anywhere from an hour to 3 hours.
Another thing is, nobody has Premium and I won't put regular in my car. Thought about using octane booster with regular, but will hang in there as much as i can, until the Governor and the government wake the F#ck up and start sending some trucks in from another states.

ls4me if you have something to back up your statement about the union workers not wanting to except non union help POST it. otherwise consisder that the Union workers you talk about live and are under the same condiations that those they are trying to get back on line. but they are not able to beacuse they are putting their lives on the line to work under damm hard condiations. with the large area that is involved they have to shift workers from area to area to help get the major lines up first then secondary lines then each house or bussiness. And it isn't the workers that make the decisions on who works or not but mangement. be thankful that they are trained and are proffesnal in their work. As a retired UNION Pipefitter if it wasn't for the UNIONS You and all workers wouldn't be makeing the wages that you do because the Big People arn't going to give their money away.AS it should be but PAY THOSE THAT MAKE THE PRODUCTS A DEICENT WAGE TO BUY THE PRODUCTS. i belive HENREY FORD made that statement or close to it. JD SOUTHWELL

Who the F* is 'HENREY FORD' and WHY ARE YOU YELLING ?
Settle down and learn how to spell correctly instead!

... and your UNIONS ... do not, nor never did, determine any of my wages,
I do, it's called EMPLOYER / EMPLOYEE CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS!

I keep my own dues, thank you very much.
