Saleen Ls?

Has anyone ever seen an Ls with at least the saleen wheels?

The reason that I ask, is that I have always been a fan of the saleens. I think that it is one of the best looking Ford cars/trucks out there. The wife has owned one and the compliments that we have got from it is more than I have ever got with any of the other cars that we have owned. (we have has a few nice ones)

I have a few different ideas on how to make this happened with the Ls. The hardest will be the wheel and tire combo with the offset problem that these have. As soon as I can tackle this and still make it look good. I will start on the building of the ground effects. I am currently working on the design that will make the LS look, hopefully, as an saleen.

When I get the mustang out of the way in the garage, I will start posting pics and some of the information on the progress of this change. I am thinking that it will take somewhere in the 6 month range to complete.

I wanted to see if anyone has seen this before on an Ls, I dont want to "copy" someone else.

There is a member here by the name of baggedtaco, I think. He has a wheel shop that the Mark guys get their replica rims from. I not sure if he makes them in the LS offset though.
 
you mean with a unique body kit, wheels and some decals?

don't saleens start from a performance stance? suspension, engine, ....

I'm interested in seeing it. I know a few guys were working on a side pipe LS. :eek: too bad it wouldnt be legal in any state!
 
I went to a shop the other day selling some Saleen Wheels and they wouldn't fit. The bolt pattern is different for us but if you can find some look-a-likes i wanted that kind of style too.

do you mean some 5x108 wheels with a Saleen badge? :P

Yes. The offset will probably be closer then the real/ mustang offset replica wheels and they have the correct bolt pattern.

Theres a few people here in town that have side pipes, never seen them take them off or get pulled over yet? :shifty:

may very well be true, but i doubt they had 4 door cars. The issue isnt the side pipes. its that the exhaust has to come past the passenger cabin. side pipes on our cars would have to come out behind the rear wheels and thus not really be side pipes
 
Yes, it will be a one of a kind car. I am not going to go with a body kit, it will be molded by me from the curves of the car and from the newer model mustang. (fabricated, not bought) I will be more than likely fabricating a new hub assembly to make the wheels work also. I have a great starting platforn to start with, but we will see
 
just machine the stock hubs to have a 5x4.5 blug partern like such

i drew this out for the ccorvette lug pattern but instead of 4.75 just make that diameter 4.5
 
But that doesnt help the offset. I need to get it inside. I want to add a (at least) 10" rear rim also
 
the offset is an much easier beast to tame. You can find knockoff wheels for stangs in bigger offsets (i think the 05+) the you can shave the backplate off a bit to make it work. 7mm is a safe number and 36+7=43... on a 45 offset I have run 275's
 
You know you can order rims directly from the manufacture, without any holes being drilled in them. If you have a good machine shop around they can drill the pattern you need for the Ls. most rim manufactures will make the rims you want with the offset and lug pattern, might cost more but they will do it. But make sure you get ahold of the manufacture and not a dealer. The dealer can only sell you what they buy from the manufacture. I'am sure one of those manfactures that make Saleen wheels will help you out, after all a rim with no lug pattern is just one less step they have to do.
