Has anyone ever contacted Rousch Performance about an Ls setup? I talked to them on friday and one of the techs said he is going to look into it. I have The 3.0 v6 and was told possibly the charger from a Taraus Sho might work. Those motors were made by Yamaha but they were 3.0 liters, Possibly a head swap might work? Anyone have any info on this?

A head swap? I doubt that would work. You're comparing two completely different engines here. And I really doubt you'll get a company to put any kind of kit into production for an LS. That has been discussed many times here and always comes to the same conclusion, there just is not enough demand from the LS community for a mass produced setup. Most people who own an LS just don't care about things like that.

Plus the fact that the car isn't made, companies just don't see a reason to spend a ton on R&D for little return in sales.

never gonna happen. It would be silly for any mainstream company to spend R&D dollars on a car the is out-of-production and targeted to a crowd that mostly does not do performance mods.

There has not been as many forced induction options for the Taraus as you would expect - and the SHO crowd is fairly performance orientated. Nothing is a bolt-on for you.

Build your one-off manifold, mount your charger to it, and work through the issues. Or - wait until someone else has a grass-roots project up. There is a Belt-driven-turbo in the works for the V6.

So you guys dont think anything from those older Sho motors would work? I am not really familiar with the Ls motor, I just bought the car recently and I was assuming it was pretty much the same motor in the sable and tauraus. But I do know that I had swapped the head off of a regular 3.0 Taraus with a Yamaha head off of the Sho. And I was thinking maybe some of those guys at ford or rousch would have any suggestions or anything that maybe one of the guys tried personally. And Quickls do you know more about this belt driven blower? Thanks fellas.

I am a Roush WD and they have no plans for our platform.

Thus why I am building my own.

lincoln motor is no where close to the taurus motor. no luck sorry charlie

Depends on what you call the "motor." The 3.0L Duratec block is interchangeable between basically all models. The LS, Taurus, Sable, Escape, etc. Hell, I had a Taurus 3.0L Duratec block in my old Contour SVT, which originally had a 2.5L Duratec. The top end of the motor is a different story.

I know the Yamaha was different and I know those motors could rev up to 12,000 rpm's , Thats why I was wondering if maybe something out there would work.

12,000 RPM??? Just cause its yamaha doesnt mean it can rev high. I know they were high rev motors but common...... 12k? :shifty: :shifty:

Yea believe it or not those motors were capable of 12,000 rpms. You had to have a blower on it and the right cam. The small blower set up was some where around 380 hp. Not sure what the larger on was. But they were Yamaha motors and the Indy team had alot to do with the design.

Couldn't find any info to support your claim. Got any credible links? (i remember hearing something similar once - something along the lines of the engine having a high RPM limit, but the car's accesories and drive train couldn't handle it, so a modest RPM limit had to be set.)

All i know about those 3.4 V8 SHO engines is that the cam gears would come loose due to a 'swaged' fitment and Ford denied any responsibility. Seems SHO owners 'in the know' either pin or weld them up.

Edit: Ok, i guess you are talking about V6 SHO engines - i didn't look into those.

Mind, it does say on Wiki (if you can call that a credible source - Lol) that the V6 was capable of over 8500RPM and a low RPM limit had to be set for reasons already stated. Don't think those had cam gear trouble.

I really don't know much about the newer models with the v8, But I will try to find that info on the yamaha motor. I do know that the 5 speed SHO I had was a pretty bad ass Taraus. And I do remeber them being a touch faster than the um 5.0 Mustang. I am not saying the automatic was faster , but I do recall beating a few 5.0's in the day. Not smoking them but beating them.

Yeah this is no joke. but they are limited at 8500 ish to avoid the components (alt, pumps,Ect.) from comming apart. now that is crazy shtuff.

I found a link talking about the first motors in the SHO. They reportedly were 300hp motors out of the box. But were detuned due to the Mustang. That would have been one nice set up right there. I'am still looking for the info on the rpm's and any thing I can find to support it. But I wanna get back to what I started, A blower for the Ls V6

lot of engeneering in those puppies.. kinda ahead of their time with 220hp. in 93 that was better than a 5.0
