Removing Air ride

Yep its happening. I'm tired of its issues, I can't enjoy the car as much as I would like, while worrying about it at the same time.

Pulling my spring conversion out of storage today after work.

The car it came off of sat pretty level, but are most of you guys putting a spacer under the rear spring?? Or is that ONLY with t-bird springs?

Also, what need to be removed from the car so I don't get any error messages?

The spring conversion I have *appears* to be the strut masters kit.. w/ red springs
 
Not bad at all..Just got my 2 pair in yesterday for 42.xx shipped. In black cause my springs are black. :)

As long as you have the metal upper perch and the isolaters you should be set. Be sure to ziptie all the wires /lines. I covered the elec connection on all 4 corners so moisture and road debris would stay out of them too.

Cool thanks for that link.... do I need to remove the compressor? Or once I remove the sensors and stuff, it will know not to kick it on?

Lotsa dumb questions I know..... but I never even considered coil swapping til now
 
just leave it. with the sensors unplugged it will fault immediately and the compressor wont run. then since you cut the wire, you wont get a message either.
 
Flip the air ride switch off and clip the wire that trips the message center.
 
i just left my switch off. there is a wire to clip to stop the air ride off message, i have the diagram somewhere let me look.

saturn 5 my comperssor works, someone had dibbs on it but dont know what hes doing.
 
+1 on just leaving the air ride switch off

fwiw i think the strutmaster springs are flat on the bottom, they dont sell anything for the bottom perch if I believe, i know the shock and gravity holds the spring in more then anything.
 
Okay, here's something.

Keep in mind. I am no expert at all...

but...

I replaced my faulty air ride system with springs, cut the check air ride indicator wire, also removed compressor, also turned Air ride switch off.

Here's what happened to me:

I didn't realize that attached to the compressor assembly was a very valuable module that controls the ability of the engine fan to run properly, and possibly the AC if I remember correctly (?)

Anyways, with that removed my car overheated, then I figured out what I had done wrong, reattached the compressor rack, with that module attached to it.

Whatever I looked up at the time, I thought I remember it saying that the Air Ride switch had to be left on for that module to be operational. Maybe that was wrong.

But as for me, now I have no air ride, but Air ride switch still on.

Apologies for not being able to come up with the exact name of the module. I have completely forgotten, though it was sort of waffle-like and not very small in size.

So, I don't know what that all means to anybody, just be careful not to mess with that module I guess, and as for the air ride switch, anybody have any answer for that?

I'm sorry dude, damn, my memory sucks major @ss... I had dibbs on it but I went all coils on both my Marks. No more air ride issues.

It's a variation of a vrcm. Variable relay control module. It has a couple diff names throughout the years but they pretty much all do the same thing.
 
Yes it will.

When I first got into these car's I though it was the air comp relay as well.The relay for the air comp is located elsewhere.
 
I run with the switch off without issue. My compressor is weak, but runs, so once a week I flip the switch, apply shop air and turn on the key to pump it up. Flip switch, toss hose back into the shop and roll...
