hey guys on a 96 gen one with the lights on is the whole red strip across the back suppose to light up Mine doesnt on the trunk sides are ok

thanks

no, its not like a gen 2, it has 6 small 194 bulbs in it, 3 on each side with a gap in the center that doesnt light up, only thing that will light up in the center of it is the reverse lights, when you put it in reverse obvioulsy. the gen 1 trunk light doesnt light up entirely.

If it's anything like my 93: (pretty sure it's the same)

From left to right:

3 small bulbs - large reverse bulb - blank space - lock cover (not lit) - blank space - large reverse bulb - 3 small bulbs.

That make sense? But yeah, it does look like there should be more light around the center.

Edit: Jamie replied as I was typing, but yeah, that!

You can make it light up... you have to add some more bulbs and do some wiring... I've seen it done.

Why would I be joking?

I saw a first gen that had LEDS put into the trunk portion so it would light up all the way across...

The small lights do light up when the lights are turned on. They don't light up when the brakes are applied though.

Does anyone use LED lights in the rear on a Gen 1 ? Did a search and got a bunch of LS guys. Any info would be appreciated. Recall someone saying they weren't actually as bright.

im still toying with it, thats with a 9volt battery, 12 volts gets a lil warm. its a 3rd brake light off of a taurus, the diode fried, so i was playing with it wondering what failed, found the diode bad. then playing around more i found out how to make it brighter :D
