So I drove the car this morning and everything was fine. I get home and my family wanted to go to the beach so I figured id take the lincoln. We leave and when my car hit about 40 mph I hear a strange thumping noise coming from the rear. There were no vibrations or anything else besides this noise. I get home and take the car for a spin by myself and now its still making this noise. I have the coil conversion that I did about 3 months ago and brand new shocks. Any idea what this could be?

Would it be that they are shot or not tightened down enough which is causing the noise? Do you know the torque specs for the upper nuts?

Purchasing stainless steel shock mounts eliminates burning old shock bushings off the mounts. I think Staff or DLF has some. I bought mine off Jamie for $30 and they included the nuts and washers that were needed and no more clunking.

I talked to Eddie at American Air and he said to check my tires out. I figured nothing could be wrong with them since they are almost new but it turned out that the rear passenger tire had a dimple in it on the inside of the wheel. I felt so dumb when I seen that. Went and brought it back for an exchange and the car is fine. Thanks anyway for the help. I was messing with my shocks/mounts all day lol.

Ha i read that and thought hmm who did I buy those from... I installed them 2 days ago worked pretty good no thumping from my trunk :)
