dont know anything about the Z other then its stock. guy was a total as* hole that didnt know how to race. always took off early and cut me off all 3 times.

did a roll on 30. 3 honks go.

first time dropped her in second.. ( bad idea) he just walked the entire time.

second time also in second (tough it was going to be a roll at 60) it was a 30 and he walked away.

third time it drive O/D off and i was catching him....

ether way, kid had no balls backed off at 85-90 and cut me off.

was laughed at all night.... LOL

but hey, my 16 year old car that i payed for... VS his 3 year old car that he cant afford payments on anymore.......

oh well in the end, if i would have shifted down to first i would have won.

gave the guy a thumbs up, and a "hey good race"... even though i hate his guts....

anyone els race one?

yeah, 2nd @ 30 weak with stock gears. you're right, shoulda down shifted.
time for 4.30s and a jmod! :D

I would have just made sure O/D was off and kept it in "drive". Just stomp it at 30 and you will be in 1st gear up to around 53 to 57 mph. He would not have walked on you.

Not in my Mark but when I had my 95 Z28 I did. He took off from a stop and I did not realize that he was trying to race until he was 4 cars ahead. I hit it and pulled even by 100 when I let off. Car was an A4 with 3.23 gears.

what is the 0-60 time differences between all the gears in are marks?

3.73's
4.10's
4.30's

and dose the j-mod make that big of a difference?

The j-mod helps but with gears like that, I would leave the bottom spring in so that the 2nd gear is more of a jump forward and not a spin. A chirp is ok but hitting 2nd and spinning revolutions is wasting a lot of your forward movement time.

If I was going to choose a gear ratio, it would be 3.73 or 4.10 with the j-mod and bottom spring left in and hope for the best with getting some good hook. I don't see why it wouldn't be in the 5 sec range. I'm staying with stock gears but will be doing the j-mod very soon. I'll try with the spring in and out since it doesn't require pan removal.

It's going to be a hard question to answer because most that have gears, also have tunes, chips, bolt on's, exhaust and other mods that help them with power.

well im running strait pipes.

im looking at doing a tune, and have a guy that can do some good with with transmissions.

whats a good tuner that you guys recommend? SCT X3? and what are some other mods to help with power?

Honestly, I would just go for some gears right now and round up a 93 shaft. Do the j-mod which requires 2 drill bits and 2 gaskets. The gaskets from Max are around $2.50 each for each side of the separator plate + shipping. Upgrade your 1-2 accumulator and don't worry about new springs. Use the old ones if neither are broken. You can upgrade the 2-3 accumulator also while you're inside the trans with the pan off. Again, unless the springs are broke, the accumulator is all you'll need. Keep in mind, none of this is adding power but pro-longing the trans life. You'll need another speedo gear too and they aren't high. That's if you want to show the correct speed or not.

I think you will feel a huge difference with just that alone. My $0.02 :shifty:
