I currently own a LSE and I am thinking about getting a Mark VIII, my question for you is what are known problems with the car?

I am hoping to get one with less then 80K miles on it, any advice is appreciated

Gen 1- 93-95

Air ride issues.

Transmission is weak but can be upgraded with a j-mod or install a 98+ transmission with a re-pin.

Headlights suck but can be re-chromed and a aftermarket HID kit installed.
Whole front end will be shot around 100,000, about $500 bucks in parts to fix.

Have to have a chip programed... OB-1... if you do any mods.

Gen 1 96
Is upgraded to a OB-11.
Still has all the other gen one issues.... plus more... it has parts that are used for only this year.....a bastard child.

Gen 2 97
Air ride issues
Same weak trans.
Blend door issues "no heat"
Headlights can go out, but an after market HID kit will fix.
Whole front end will be shot around 100,000, about $500 bucks in parts to fix.
Rear neon will go out, about $100 bucks for a glitch that will fix it.
Most 97's black cars will have clear coat issues.

Gen 2 98
Same problems but has a upgraded trans.

thanks for the info!

Depending on price I would still go with a Mark VIII, I was trying to choose between a foxbody and a Mark VIII, and so far thinking 8

the 79 fox body was 80's

so were the 90-93...they even put skirts and mullets on the 90's foxes

soooo 80's

lmao

line up a stock fox and a stock mark 8...lol

especially if you line up a 93 mark against the 93 gt.

pwnt...

If you want cheap to mod and fix get a fox body, it's basically a blank canvas. There's almost nothing that can't be done to a fox. If you want something unique get the Mark. If you want the engine of the Mark with the modability of the fox get a 96-98 Cobra.

98 swap doesn't require a re-pin only a harness swap. A few of us have done this now.

Ummmmm, and you used a hammer on you valve cover, and your having Dr. LSC do a motor swap on your Mark?!?!?!

Confusious, says........ man standing on toilet is high!

Please explain yourself.......................

BTW, 1979 - 1993 Mustangs are, Go Karts (I don't mean that in a good way), and very very 80ish!

Best fox cars I ever had were '87 and '88 T-Bird Turbo Coupes. Both were 5-speeds and both were fantastic cars. Powerful, fast, great handling, comfortable, quiet, and great on gas. I miss 'em both.
