Bear with me for a second guys. As I've explained to a few other users I was digging up old threads because I was under the impression that asking questions without using the search function was frowned upon here. So in an effort to not piss people off I pulled up an old thread rather than start another new thread about a topic that's covered over and over again.

So one of the members gave me a great idea to start a new thread and link the old thread in the post as a reference point.

So I found this old thread pertaining to underdrive pulleys. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=32720

1. Here's the question. I'm considering buying Steeda pulleys as I know they are good first hand since I used to work there. I was curious if the model I needed to purchase were the 96-98 Cobra ones? I assume so, but rather than make an expensive assumption I would rather get some verification that that is the right part.

2. Also, in the other thread it mentions that using the included alternator pulley will mess with things, and to use the stock one will also mess things up. They mentioned to go to a smaller pulley for the alternator. So if the pulley that comes with the kit doesn't work right, and neither does the stock one, where would I find this spoken of smaller alternator pulley?

3. Has anyone knowingly had any issues caused by the addition of Steeda underdrive pulleys with their Mark?

4. Lastly, I spoke with a tuner on the phone and he mentioned that he can raise the idle on the SCT tuner I'm planning on buying from him by 200rpms to compensate for the drop in RPM's that will occur from adding UDP's. So will that be adequate enough to not have to opt for a smaller alternator pulley?

5. Ok so I lied, final question....lol.......will the udp's effect the longevity of the expensive items like the HID's or Neon taillight?

END NOVEL....:D

#4 - Talk to XLRVIII, I can't remember if you can raise idle RPM from an SCT tuning device by just plugging it in, and going through the options. Might not have a need for a tune just to raise the RPMs.

SCT, which you should get anyways. :D

Yes you can move the idle rpm with a tune...

I wouldn't though... not necessary just for a pulley change.

I know you can bump the idle from the tuner according to the guy that's going to do a custom tune for me. I was curious if that would have any detrimental effects on the engine having an upped RPM?

He said that it's not really up any because the udp's drop it below normal, and he would be upping it back to the normal range so it wouldn't make the lights dim etc at idle.

I also was curious if he did up the RPM (which I'll probably have him do) would there be any need for the smaller alternator pulley as mentioned in my 1st post?

Any other answers to my other questions?

XLRVIII once you return from your trip through time, got any input ;) lol...

Pfft.....

I would'nt worry about pissin' anybody off around here man. Just have thick skin to deal with the search Nazi. :D

I have ONLY the underdrive crank pulley on the 94. I notice a SLIGHT decrease in voltage at idle. Nothing horrible, just a dimming of dash lights. The HIDs do not dim at all. The only other thing I notice is that the power steering is a bit tougher. (that gould be the cobra pump I put on it though.)

I had steeda pulleys on my 96 and 99 cobra for thousands of miles with no issues using all 3 pulleys...

The rpms can be rasies with a handheld device, your tuner will do it if needed in the tune.

Some other things you will find useful, change gear ratio, revs per mile (depending on what tire you have) and shut off traction control for good (well i know with mustangs, not sure about the marks...yet)

I wouldnt spend the money on underdrive pulley's either. If you do, make sure to get steeda SFI apprioved crank pulley that has the built in balancer.
