Buttons Climate Control working and the display shows the chosen mode, but the air ventilation is only on the windshield.

Maybe the EATC (climate control unit) has gone bad. The default mode blows only through the defrost vents on the windshield.

Have you done anything in the dash recently? I accidentally unplugged the vacuum lines behind the glove box and it went into default mode. Maybe you could check that.

yeah if you unplug the eatc this happens. bad eatc or a vacuum leak somewhere.
defrost is the default because it will clear the windshield of ice or fog in bad weather.
 
oh i am sorry for posting , i will shut up from now on when someone asks for advice. i dont know that when the linkage from the blend door to the gray arm breaks that leaves the doors in the defrost position in the duct box, couldnt possibly have anything to do with the blend door, i am not saying it is, but it could be, i'll just shut up though.
 
The vac line from the engine broke, as said above its designed to go to defrost as a fail safe when there is a loss of vac
