Well just recently someone decided to back into my 97 Mark, and they ended up breaking one of my headlights, so I got a brand new headlight, courtesy of his insurance. :)

Anyways, I was wondering what's the best way to keep it from getting all yellowed and oxidized like my other headlight currently is?

Don't take em outta the box....humm but that might not work either!

I've never heard of anyone taking a pro-active measure, cept the obvious. I know if I could get a new set, I'd like ot see how well the new "super adhesive/protective" clear film they are using on new cars now would work.

good Q hottie

Wash your car on a regular bassis, wax your headlights as you would the rest of your car, If you maintain your paint, plastic trim, wax your wheels & lights You should rarely ever have any issues. Try keeping it out of the sun as much as possible as well.

I bought new hallogen headlamp housings 1 1/2 years ago and they are still like brand new. I DO NOT use the auto light feature as it's junk and will turn the lights on in the daytime if the sensor is faulty like most of them are. I only manually turn them on at night. I also keep them waxed on a regular bassis.

Other then these tips just hope for the best!

My 94's got glossed as much as I did, still got yechie, my 96's are different, but still a bit of hazing. .well I've tried everything. Good luck and enjoy them (green with envy!)

I use turtle wax ice detail spray on my HID housings, works great.

To MAINTAIN their condition, apply Meguiar's PlastiX every time you detail the car, and optionally top that with the wax of your choice. A synthetic based wax/polish would probably be best for this as the lamps get quite hot and a carnuba may not hold up well.

Here are the factory original headlamps on my '96 Marquis, I apply PlastiX every time I do a full detail on the exterior. I like to go over that with a few coats of Zaino Z-2

Sounds good, thanks for the tips guys! Now I just have to get me another new headlight for the driver side lol

Now that you got a brand new out of the box headlight, it would make sense to me to go ahead and buy another one for the other side. You are never going to get the faded one perfect like the new one. It is going to look like a guy with a shiner on one of his eyes that wont go away.
