My passenger side seat will not travel forward. It seems like it is stuck. When someone gets in on the passenger, and I move the seat back up, it will start to travel forward. However sometimes it does not travel back, and the controls will not move it back. After jacking with it for a while, it will eventually travel back. Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem?

The connectors are plugged in. It's almost as if the seat has a mind of it's own. I movesforward and backward some of the time. When it doesen't move, I can hear it trying to move.

The link he mentioned no longer works. I would love to see how to do this, can anyone help find another link to his write up on how to rebuild the seat motor?

Thanks man... that is an awesome article. Looks like I know what I am doing next weekend! While you're at it, is there any similar links to rebuilding / cleaning the actual switch assemblies? While trying to determine why my drivers seat will not move at all (lumbar pump still works) I made the mistake of opening the drivers side switch assembly, and after about 20 minutes of fumbling, I managed to get the genie back in the bottle. However, none of the motors on my seat are working and I am still not sure if it is the motors or the switch. I already checked the circuit breakers, the car has only 60K on it. What should I be looking at first?

Until billcu chimes in:

I've also taken my seat switches apart and cleaned them. (along with the motors) Don't remember there being any special trick to the seat switches, other than noting how all the contacts and pins go back together.

As none of your seat motors are working, I'd use a multimeter and check you have power at the main harness and to the seat switches, then go from there. Heck, could even just be a connector loose?

I rebuilt one of my switches once, I forget what was wrong with it, I'm thinking a broken peice of plastic, but I had a spare to swap parts with.

I agree, check fuses, connectors, and check for power. If you could find another switch at a junkyard, that might help to narrow it down.

If you get the switch working and still have the problem of the seat not moving front to rear, it might be time to rebuild the motor.:)

I'm not sure about the Gen 1's, but the Gen 2's have a fuse on the top of the seat track assembly, beneath the cushion. I fixed a friend's seat track that way. He was ready to pay $175 for the track, but ended up just being the fuse.
Just a suggestion.

Just to follow up, my problem ended up being the switch assembly. I opened it up again and really serviced it well. Removed all of the contacts, cleaned with contact cleaner, used a 1200 grit contact file (like emery boards but VERY fine) to clean the oxidized copper and silver contact points, re-lubed all of the surfaced with dielectric grease and it seems to work great now. Use a good amount of dielectric grease just to hold each of the little parts in place when re-assembling. The biggest PITA was just getting the switch back together. There is a single gold colored alignment pin towards the "back" of the switch that has to fit into a slot properly first, and then the "front" of the switch with the other 2 gold pins can be positioned. Steady hands and a small screwdriver to probe with is critical. When snapping it back together, the back of the switch seats first, then the front. Patience grasshopper. :)
