I've got a yearly reenlistment bonus coming up in October, and I've always wanted to do some 'beautification' to the engine bay of my 98. I saved the valver covers and some other items off of the seized engine from my 97. I'd really like to get some stuff powdercoated. The only things I can really think of are the valve covers (I've got Ford GT COP covers, so I'll probably leave them the way they are), the coolant crossover tube and the alternator bracket. I'll also be getting a Cobra intake at the same time, so unless I find one that's polished or something, I'll probably get that coated too. Maybe the pullies and tensioner also? Can the tensioner be powdercoated? How about the fuel rails?
The reason I'm telling you guys this is because I can't think of what colors to go with. I really wanted to get black chrome, but the powdercoating guy says that the black always comes out looking like poop unless the piece is already chromed or perfectly polished. As some of you may know, the car is all black except for the chrome trim around the side windows and the red 10th anniversary edition Cobra calipers.
I had really wanted to do the black chrome look, but since that won't work right, I don't know what to do. I don't want to do straight black because it won't really look much different than it does now, and I'd really like it to look different. I'd like to do some different colors, like maybe the caliper red on teh valve covers and something different on the intake. I don't really know.
I really like this car below, but I only like it because it's the same color as the car. If I did the same kind of theme, everything would be black and look the same as it does now.
Also, chroming stuff or polishing like that will probably not be an option for me...
