this is the after math of me being cut off by a senior citizen that is only allowed to drive during the day time, not all that bad could have been worse.

That sucks man. Good luck with the repair. It looks very repairable. And it's also nice your airbags didn't go off.

Is the old mans insurance going to pay to have it fixed? If so, tasca.com still sells corner lenses for right at $200. Looks like they may be able to salvage your bumper cover and a fender will be an easy find. I hate old people out driving. The ones that think they're the only one on the road. I guess it's better than a young person because usually they'll total a car. I know that hit makes you sick because it sure would be eating me up. Clean looking car.

EDIT: nvm that about tasca. They are out of the side marker lenses. Part discontinued! Someone has them though but they will be just a little over $200and if the insurance will pay, I'd be getting.

Yea everytime I look at the car or picture it saddens me:(, just had bumper repainted less than 2months ago. And it looks like I'm on my own for repair as he had plpd, but it will be fixed and driving again.:)

The initials PLPD stand for Public Liability and Property Damage and which is basically the same as bodily injury and property damage.
Am I wrong? Not sure who his insurance is with but I'd make them pay for this or keep him off the road if he can't drive any better than that. He might kill someone next.

Thanks for the support guys, I guess this just means my mark will be getting a lot more attention till its fixed.:) I'm actually going parts hunting at a local junkyard today!

Not sure what plpd stands for,all I know is that no one is responsible for damage for each other.

What??? That makes no sense at all. So this old guy can run all over your car but because of some insurance acronym he's magically not responsible for the damage? I call bullshyte on that one. The insurance company is pulling your leg real hard. Call them on that.

Do you have collision insurance? Did the old fart get a ticket? Either his insurance or yours should pay for fixing your car. Unless you only have liability and comprehensive. In that case, it would have to be his insurance if he got a ticket. Either way, you should not have to put out any out of pocket expense to fix your car. That's the whole purpose of having insurance. I've got full coverage on my '97 including collision. If anything like that happens to my car, it will get paid for by insurance. And the damage to your car shouldn't be enough to total it out. Get on the insurance company. They need to get your car fixed ASAP. That's their job and that's what you are paying them for. There's no damn reason to have insurance if you're gonna be "on your own" for repairs:eek: WTH? The old guy efffed up your car. He should have to pay. At least his insurance should pay. If it were me, I'd be on the phone with both his and my insurance companies and the police (if they were involved) and getting somebody to pay for my car's damage since it was clearly the fault of the old fella in the other car.

All I know is that plpd is a no fault insurance, which both of us had with the same provider.

I think I'd just not have insurance and if I cut someone off, I'll tell them I'm not at fault. Why pay for something that doesn't pay? I'm not getting it. The old mans insurance should be fixing your car, plain and simple. It has big dents and a busted corner lens and a roughed up bumper. It was someones fault. If the old man would have been home during your drive, that pic up above wouldn't even be on here.

Maybe it's a state thing, idk but here in Alabama, the old man would be fixing my car. State Farm would contact his insurance company for me and make sure of it.

Same here in NC. That happened to me about 20 years ago. An old man pulled out in front of me in his 1980's K-Car station wagon and scraped his plastic wood side trim down my entire front fender and side marker light on my '87 Mustang hatchback. Then he just drove off. I got his plate # and called the police. He got a ticket for fleeing the scene of an accident and his insurance had to pay for repairing the damage to my car. That's how it's supposed to work. This "no fault" crap is just that, crap. Somebody's selling snake oil here...

Of all cars to hit you, it had to be a K car station wagon..... I think I would just have to beat the chit out of someone if they hit me with that thing. I remember when the K car first came out when I was a kid. My mother and father and step-mother and step-father all worked at Chrysler in Huntsville for 30 years but they were all there during the release of that ugly azz car. They never bought one or anything but I seen my share of them around here.

I know. It was horrible:lol: My great aunt had a Plymouth Reliant K. Drove it for years. Never gave here a minutes trouble. It was a crappy little car though. Interesting tidbit: when those cars first came out, the unibody structure was so flimsy that there were reports of windshields cracking when they hit potholes or tried to take a curve too fast:eek: They were probably some of the most cheaply built vehicles ever to disgrace American roads. Thank goodness there aren't many of them left...

ok i got the broken header panel out today and found that my headlights are cracked:(, anyone got a good set of halogens?? or did someone(on the forums here) buy the set diesel dan sold and are keeping them for spares and are willing to part with them?? the bumper cover was able to be saved:D but now im on the search for the actual steel bumper as mine is a bit twisted.

Use a big hammer and manually untwist it..its welded to the frame on a Gen1, it doesn't have to be perfect

I could probably get you a set of headlights on Saturday if nothing turns up by then. They won't be as clean as Dans thou

all they need to be is in good shape with good chrome i can refinish them post pics of the ones you have please.

On a side note does anyone know if gen 2 front seats will plug and play in a gen 1??

I don't have any at the moment, there's a couple sets in the JY near me.

They'll fit, with modification ..not a PNP

Don't know, I did the easy method ...my Gen2 came stock with Gen2 seats...
You'll need to remake the wire harnesses. Clip the connectors off of a Gen1 seat bottom and then splice according to function
