I have a couple of DA marks from when I painted my car in the chrome and saw KK had polished the chrome on another mark because of the same type of issue. Does anyone know what grit of paper he was using? ( I've tried Pm'ing him) Or does anyone know offhand how to do this?

I haven't found anything specifically for 500 grit RO scratches in chrome in google so I thought I'd ask.

I'm figuring I'd polish just like anything else. Go with 800 and then 1500 and finally some meguairs 105 polish.

Its not chrome, its polished stainless steel. I bought the same little silver can of metal polish Brandon used. Works great, forgot the name. Small greyish silverish can that says "Metal Polish" in black lettering. Got mine at Autozone I think. Cant find the damn thing now though...... bet its in the spare tire area of the last Mark I sold. :(

i have this stuff too, wadding polish, works great.

didn't work worth a damn. To take out the large scratches I started with 320 (surprisingly) and worked all the way up to 2000 but now it still doesn't have the shine I want. I think I"m going to have to get one of those metal polishing pads. See how that works.

you'll never get it to shine again if you sanded it with 320, you can never sand chrome with 320, anything less than 1500 i would never attempt. you would have been better off with grade 0000 steel wool, i didnt read your entire post i now see how you got scratches in the chrome, but 320 was the wrong thing to use on chrome.

maybe... I thought the same thing and I only did this on the small area that had 220 grit scratches. I moved from 320 to 500 to 800 to 1000 to 1500 to 2000. But yes, I knew that was something I knew could be a result.

It's come back to a decent luster but not good enough like I was saying before. It's def. better than what it was before so that's a good thing.

I did try the 1500 grit and move down btw. the scratches were simply too deep.

edit: I honestly can't say that the area I did this too is any worse (it might be better) than any other polished metal part of my car. Whatever works on this area( or whatever I figure out ) I am going to do to the entire car.

hey, when can i find all the chrome? anyone know. i have the same problem, the chrome is trash on my car. i need the ones over the turn signals in the front, and grill, the ones over the rear turn signal, the rear peice. and i need the ones on the bumper. i have found the grill and the "belt" trim, but thats it.
