Playing Tag (I hit a deer)

Or you can get new ones from Max for ~$800 each.

Ebay has them occasionally, usually go for $600-1000 per pair.

Yep. There's a guy on here selling a PAIR of stock hid assemblies for 400. MIght want to go that way, and pocket the extra GRAND.

Well minus my deductible insurance will be footing the bill, otherwise I would totally buy from max or another member (or install a flashlight).

Headlights

So, I FINALLY got my car back today. The work they did was amazing, looks brand new, minus one problem. The headlights don't match. One is blue, one is yellow. The previous owner must have installed the blue ones. So if insurance doesn't cover this, it'll cost me $95 dollars for the bulb. Def not going to be going that route.

My question. What bulbs should I get? I'm looking at this site: http://www.hidxenonheadlights.com/Lincoln-LS-HID-Kits/

Is there something better? Can If I buy a single bulb will it look the same?

Thanks

MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE STOCK HID HEADLIGHTS which are blue/white! THEY ARE DIFFERENT headlights all together!. I bet the dealer ordered you a non HID headlight that is cheaper and which will make the headlight yellow.

Is there a way I can easily check this?

Edit: I will take pictures in the morning and post them on here, hopefully that will help decide why they aren't matching, and if the body shop was trying to pull one on me.

The first picture is the original headlight. The second is the new headlight.

Is it possible to tell from the pictures if the new one is a hid light? I'm not extremely knowledgeable on lights but it looks like a standard bulb to me.

Ok. You need to go to the dealer and tell them to remove and replace the headlight they put in. You DO have stock HIDs. The way you can tell is by the cut off in the right white/blue headlight. The HID headlights have a totally different lense and they also have the ballast mounted to your headlight. On your old headlight the ballast should still be ok. You need to make sure they replace the entire headlight assembly because they put the wrong one in! I'm sorry I just hate when bodyshops play stupid.

Thanks for your input, that's what I was starting to suspect the more I thought about it.

How would I go about getting part numbers. And I'm assuming there are part numbers on my headlights that I can compare? Where are they located on the headlight?

Here are the price differences and this is excluding the ballast and the bulb. I have not been able to find the part number online but I will try later when I get home. But this will give you an idea of the difference

Those with HID prices look familiar, and that's definitely what they charged insurance, so if i'm understanding this correcty they made almost $1000 off of getting me the cheaper assembly?

If they are stock HID lights the ballast should be on the bottom of the headlight. It will be either a dull metallic color or in a black plastic covering. One easy way to tell is to pull you original drivers side and look at the bulb, and pull the new one and compare bulbs. They definatley look different.

Update: Body shop called and they said they ordered the right part but that the place they ordered from had incorrectly packaged the halogen headlight. So, they should have the assembly w/hid in a few days to swap with the incorrect assembly.

Glad to hear they took care of it!

5900 whew...can insurence cover it? might be able to save the bumper. Alluminum hood and fender you could take the scrap yard and get like 10 bucks for

Did it get the headlight bracket? or just the headlight/hood/fender/front bumper?

Insurance definitely covered it, and with no fuss too.

I believe it got the headlight bracket, although I can't say for sure as I don't have the breakdown of costs in front of me right now.

And I thought about taking the parts to a scrap yard...figured whatever they did give me though would be too disappointing for it to be worth it

It is pretty complicated to cut off in the right white/blue headlights right?
