I am highly considering buying a second Lincoln Mark VIII to part out, and i am just wondering if there are alot of people that might be interested in parts and such. Just some feedback on how much of a demand some of you guys think there is out there for parts. It is a 1st gen mark. Any comments appereciated.:)

color combo, and milage, what parts would be up for grabs?

Depending on the price you give me & the condition of the parts, I'm interested in the electrical fan, the plug that goes to the fan, the upper control arms, the passenger window motor, the rear ash trays... My list can go on! :)

unless you can get it sub $500 its not worth it. There is just no money in it like there was 10 years ago.

exactly if you think you will get rich dont bother, if you pay 500 for it you might get 500 back! specially a 1st gen.

UCAs...really? used?

Well i wasnt tryin to get super rich but a little maney would be nice. He is offering 800 for it with no engine, but with he has an engine from another mark (i hope from 1st gen aswell). This engine is not in it. It has 80k on it and i would like that for myself (much less milage than mine). When i talked with him he said he would take a lower offer, and he seems like he just wants it gone. Also he told me, and i saw from the pictures that everything like interior and body is in great shape. I am definatly at least going to check it out.

you can get a motor for these for about $200, if the interior is MINT..offer $400, you can recoupe $300 roughly for the shell at scrap, gut its wires and burn the insulation off= clean copper..

I have a 96 "Black Diamond" that has damn near killed me for the last time.
I've been thinking of sending it to salvage for 350 bucks. The passenger side tire almost came off again. Ball joint snapped. Good thing I wasn't on the interstate this time.

I've had to drive it like a stick for the past year or so because if I let my foot off of the gas for a second it stalls out. It doesn't have a catalytic converter. I think my mechanic stole it and sold it to get some drugs. It's loud. People working drive through windows hate me. I have to rev up the engine while in neutral to keep it from stalling and I guess that makes it hard to hear other peoples orders. Most of my fast food has probably been spit on.

Heater and AC work when I hit a big bump and stop working when I hit a little bump. I used to look for big bumps to hit and tried to avoid the little bumps. That didn't work very well so I disconnected the things that keep the glove box from falling all the way open and got a stick to poke the harness with when it cuts out. My crackhead mechanic "replaced" that harness that I'm always poking with a stick about a year and half ago. I bet he just jiggled it until it worked and charged me a hundred fifty.

I can't get in the Mark very easily. Passenger side door handle snapped a couple years ago. Drivers side handle came half way apart, I have been very, very, gently lifting that handle and praying that I can get in for over a year. I leave the moonroof open when the weather is supposed to be nice just in case. Sometimes it rains when it's not forecasted and I go to work with the wet-ass.

The antenna stopped coming up a long time ago. Since I like listening to something other than the roar of the car, I have to get in the car, start it up and run to the back and yank on the antennae to get to come up. I have be fast, very fast. Because if I take to long the car will stall out and I have to start all over again. I'm convinced my coworkers stay a little late to watch me do this.

I've had to save, and use all of my vacation just in case it snows. If we get a dusting of snow, I ain't going anywhere. Since the Mark won't make it up the hill, I started parking it in the grocery store parking lot at the top of the hill and had my wife drive me to it. One time we found a bum sleeping in the back seat. He didn't ask me for money. He didn't even ask for a ride.

The air ride works perfect.

An old handicapped lady is selling a pristine red 96 with less than 100,000 miles for $1,500. It's just 15 miles from me.....

My wife is gonna kill me.

i'm sorry but if you drove it with all the noise and plenty of warning a bad ball joint gives off then you got what was coming to you. i have never owned or been in a mark VIII, ( and thats over 1600 ) where a ball joint just broke for no reason. you can tell when your front suspension is bad in these cars LONG before a ball joint is going to break. if you neglected to fix it for that long i have no sympathy for ya!

No warning this time. Except for a pull to the left after turning right on the same day it happened.

ya know, a set of snow shoes and youll be all set... cuz walking is free, and probably much SAFER than you trying to drive your uh, car thing, that used to be a Mark8
