I have the light parchment gold colour LS. And I was thinking about painting the lower grille (on the bumper) black. What do you guys think? If anybody has done this can you post a pic.

Another question I just bought the SST shifter and a wooden shifter knob for 100 bucks. Took me about an hour to install. The only problem was adjusting the cable underneath. Anyways don't you guys think that if you get the wooden shifter you should get the wooden steering wheel too? From factory its a package deal, right? And if anybody has one, im intrested!

I think the SS in SST means: SUPER SEXY

no i have the shifter but the steering wheel was for the non sport models. the all leather steering wheel was for the sports.

I haven't seen any pics of what you're looking for, the closest is the lower black painted grill from the '06 LSE's (you've probably already seen those.) Where did you get the SST from? How much effort was the cable adjusting? I'm considering the mod. Thanks.

It was very easy everything up top. Underneath was a liitle bit of a pain but not that hard. The cable I believe is suppose to be self adjusting. But everytime I tried to set it, it was going into the wrong gear (ex. d5 was N and N was R) So after 3 tries. Ijust put it in the middle and it works great. Very happy with it. I picked it up at a local auto recycler. I had them swap the wood shifter with another car on there lot.

This is what im getting done next week to the car (before it goes away for winter storage) . What do u guys think I am also getting the LSE grille surround painted to match the car.

What look are you going for? sport or lux. I think it kind of brings the front of the car up too much. I like the more aggresive look. by this i mean lower and all one color. on mine i am going for just a clean look. it still looks good, just a different opinion.

Yea I agree. It makes the front end look like something is missing. Like the Fusion missing parts of the grill.

To each his own. I want to paint the black trim (at the bottom) all the way around the same color as the car.

yes the sst can be installed on the v6. I have the v8 but i know people that have it.

Nice LS-Monk. I just look through your gallery. I would love to do that to my 2000 LS. Ever though about running up a Tech Article on this? Even though I am a Crew Cheif in the USAF, and work on these damn expensive jets, when it come s to my Lincoln, I just feel plain retarded. Weird..

Well as for the painting I got into a little fender bender. (crumpled up about 2 inches on the drivers fender. Nearly cried when it happend) So figured since they had the paint there was some stone chips on the bumper to be fixed. I had them repaint the whole thing.
I put the black lse grille on my car and was thinking about doing the all chrome grille but after much thought, decided to go the route of just matching it to my car. Anyways i will post picks when i pick it up on friday. It gets parked Sunday for the Winter I am going to miss it but I will still be playing around with it.
I would love to put the eyeglass holder from a 03+. But will see. I jsut installed the wood steering wheel. Man was it ever easy. :L

I think it would look really nice if you paint the grille black... since you have a bright color nor than me that i have midnight grey

:L Here is another shot. Driving in front of the car it looks really good. (my g/f drove it home) I was worried i wasn't going to like right it. But I love it. :wave
