Hey guys by the end of next month i'm gonna have 13K to spend on one of the following cars, just want to know from you guys what you think and good/bad about every car below, thanks! I'm gonna keep the 96 lsc for a while i replaced the trans pan gasket, it was leaking horrible lol.

Keep in mind i've narrowed it down to 3 cars, and i'm not gonna do much mod wise to the car i buy, just the basics like intake/exhaust maybe some other things.

99-04 Mustang GT 5 speed (or 1996-2002 Cobra)..........can find these with around 50-80k miles around the 9-12k$$$$ mark....Terminator Cobras AINT around here for less then 18K lol.

98-2002 camaro or firebird/trans am 6 speed..these sell for alot closer to 13k$$$ with good mileage.

04-05 SRT-4 most of these are modded which i DON'T want i want stock, but i can find one for around the 12-13K$$ mark with 60k miles.

I want a fun, decently quick Daily driver with stick shift i miss driving manual and i prefer it even in traffic. If you can recommend or give advice please do its much appreciated.

PS i also like the Mazdaspeed 3's but they go for 16K$$ roughly, i might even consider that. Oh and btw gas mileage really doesnt matter too much lol i only drive 4 miles to work :-)

The list is absolutely endless, especially since it's such a short drive in a region of the country with such fun driving roads.

You really need to narrow it down- there are a world of cars between a Mustang Cobra and a turbocharged hatchback.

98-2002 camaro or firebird/trans am 6 speed... though I hate their steering wheels and dash. Best of the bunch that you listed..

Yeah i was thinking about that Staffamerica74 especially because they are really underrated from GM lol they really got about 340HP at the crank.

And Calabrio there really isn't that many cars in that price range that run as fast as those cars.

I think you could find a 05gt in your price range... those are pretty nice. Mach 1s are pretty cool too.

How about an LS2 GTO? You could get one for that Mazdaspeed 3 price and crush it.

I actually drove one, and they MOVE!!!! They are not really out there in NY for under 18K$$ though.

Only the 5.7's with AUTO are out there...sucks.

Here is my .02

Mustang: There never was a 2002 Cobra. You can get a very very nice 96-98 Cobra for well under $9000 and have money for suspension and chassis stiffening as well as exhaust and tune. The car will be an absolute BLAST to drive. Better then the 99/01 Cobras cause its much lighter. The 99/01 can be made to go faster and its easier plus there are so many more blower options. A clean 99/01 will run ya around 13 in good shape. An 01 is better then the 99. Better seats, better tune, better bumpers etc etc.

F-Body: They are fast and easy to make huge power. EVERYTHING else sucks. The plastics, the seats, the ride, the intrusive floor board, the squeaks, the walloey handling..... ugh. Plus the Camaro looks like a damn catfish.

SRT-4: World class daily driver but to me, FWD and 4-doors is not a sports car. The torque steer on them is just horrendous. Plus they cant hold much more tire at all and they really need more meat on the ground. Plus every idiot will try and race you at every damn stop light.

you know my answer. My SRT4 was the fastest and most fun car to drive Ive ever owned. You know me though, I wanted one that was a little different so i searched for the color\option combo I wanted and bought it.

I honestly dont think I could use a 94-04 mustang 5sp as a daily. the 80lb clutch would suck to have to keep pushing down lol.

I agree with Bill on the F-body issue.

Have you considered a subrau?

Look for the Gen 4 2002 F-body with the 6-speed. The Camaro with the full SLP package (Intake, exhaust and Hurst short throw shifter) Those are the ones to get. They are rated at 345 hp but Im sure its more. I had an 98 SS with the SLP package and an automatic and was running 13.5's all night long at the track. Laser is correct on the build quality the drive train is solid as all hell but the body and interior has way to much character.

A big +1 on this. I currently own a 96 Cobra and although it's not a Terminator, if you're willing to build it you can have a car that's even faster due to their weight. DON'T get a 2v, you'll just wish you had gotten the 4v.

cobra..And treat it as if you were looking for the perfect mark...travel if needed.

ehh after 2 months of driving my 5spd stang around, I wouldnt even consider any type of perfomance car for daily driving. I am not 16, Ihave a large penis, and more then decent income - no need to compensate :)

On a plus side, LS1 F-bodies are getting really really cheap. Downsides were as noted as well as an inadequate 10 bolt if you go the 6spd route.

Hmm....My friend had a 98 Z28 LS1 that was stock, except for an aftermarket airbox, and it ran 13.2-13.5 on street tires. He had it dyno'd and it showed 311 hp at the wheels. I remember the torque number. I think it was right around the same as the hp, but I'm not sure.

My friend has an 02 trans am with exhaust and that put down 315rwhp. So guess thats pretty much the case for all of them.
