whats up er' body. my current mark is a 98 base model. has 130k on it. i hate to admit it, but just about every panel has some kind of imperfection. a friend of mine is trying to sell his 97 LSC for 4500. hes letting me borrow it for a couple days to see how i like it. its in very good shape, very clean, with just a couple small scratches on the rear bumper. now what im trying to do is take out a loan large enough to pay off my previous car loan, and pay for this one. the one thing i noticed about the LSC is the steering wheel doesnt center on its own , or at least not as quickly as mine does.
what do you guys think about my situation? any suggestions or comments?

Balljoints are worn. That is the lack of return to center problem. That's if there is no PS leak or a whiny bad pump.

everything runs really quite so i dont think its the PS. how involved of a job are the balljoints? i know i just saw a thread about it but i cant find it. my plans are to part out my current mark so ill have some parts available
ok well i found the threadhttp://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=64702&highlight=worn+ball+joints but im not sure if this is my problem because the steering isnt stiff at all

yeah, i halfway agree with that. my mark just needs so much work to get it back to its original glory. i dont plan on keeping them both i would either part it out or try to sell it to a junkyard or something

In my humble opinion, a decent Mark is always worth saving. There just isn't anything like them on the road. They're sleek, fast, and timeless. 20 years from now they will still be considered a good-looking car. I get comments all the time.

I agree with the rack. My 97 wouldnt return to center very well and its rack was shot and everything else was brand new.
Also agree with not taking a loan out to buy a Mark. Bad idea.
AND the 93 rack will also fit a 97. :)

well heres the whole story. i bought my original mark from a *gasp* stealership. it was my first car purchase and i paid waay too much for what the car was worth. should have done my homework. now my mark is getting pretty beater-y and for the ammount of work it will take is more then the car is worth. things that need fixing include a blend door, pass. fender, front and rear bumpers, quarter panel replacement and not to mention all the dings on the car.
but either way, i just got a better job today so i think im going to try to swoop the new mark, its just soo clean. i gotta have it lol

I would shop more first.

Just as a point, there is a 93 black on black fully loaded Mark by me. I know the dude will take $2500 for it and its a beauty. Has some clear oxidation on the roof and will need new bags all the way around but its 100% rust free, PERFECT leather interior (looks brand new) and has 63K on it.

There are nice Marks out there just hunt around.

BTW my 98 LSC with 87K on it was 3800 and I still payed too much but was in a hurry.

alright well i went up to the local auto place and had them check some stuff out. apparently the alignment is out of wack and the rubber boot on the ball joints is tottaly rotted away. im going to offer the guy 3000 and see what i can do from there

Silver 94 had bad balljoints and a horrible return to center problem. The local dealership told him weak pump. 2 weeks later the balljoints started groaning horribly. When I replaced them it solved the groan and the return to center problem. I still say balljoint and I'm stick'in to it. To do the lowers replace the whole control arm, get moog or trw, to do the uppers replace the control arm. That is all.

haha, well i just met up with the guy. i explained to him the problems the car had and showed him the kelley blue book page a printed out, which said that the car was worth 4500 in perfect shape and he wouldnt budge on the price. the man works at a car dealership, as a salesman mind you, and tells me "his guys" checked it out and nothing was wrong with it. i know hes just trying to play me so he will call me back, and when he does i will offer him 2500 and tell him to kick rocks lol
