Help needed! I am changing the oil on a 2K5 Lincoln LS.

For the life of me, I can not find the oil pan. I see the oil filter and the transmission pan, but not the oil pan.

What am I missing here? The car is currently off the ground. Your help in this matter , will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

V6 or V8?
You can't miss it, it's right under the engine. On the V8, it is behind the oil filter and is wider than long.

thxs???? what are you twelve if you cant find the oil pan you dont belong under a car

This is your oil pan and that is where the drain plug is.

OK some of you choose to do any but help, fine, that's your perogative. I still need help with this. I am positioned directly below the oil filter. Can somebody tell me where the oil pan is, in respect to the oil filter. And, yes, I do feel a little dumb. I have seen oil changed before, but the oil pan was always in plan sight. Thanks

No fu<king way. I cant wait to see how this goes over.

Haay guyzzzz ummmm little problemo.. PFTTTT! LMFAO

+1 on the pic.

Edit: Didnt even see the arrow, damnit... I thought you posted the trans pan for ha ha's

Wow...

Take 40 bucks and go to a quick change, you are probably going to screw something up.

AJ engine layout

The oil pan is shaped differently than most American V-8s. As said above, it's wider than it is long, and is quite shallow. It's somewhat asymmetrical and will be found very close behind the filter. Simply look around the edges until you locate the plug.

A large part of what would be a sheet-metal pan on another engine is cast aluminum on an AJ engine. This adds to the rigidity of the crank case but is somewhat puzzling at first glance. Good Luck!!!

ok so i found the oil pan, but there is this weird six sided piece of metal that is keeping the oil from coming out, and there is no place for my screw driver to fit into to get it out of the way, please advise.

Solarys, don't sweat it. No matter how good your question is you are guaranteed to get three responses. First, a bunch of people giving you crap (but it is done with love (no homo)). Next, a request that you use the search feature. And finally, you will typically get a decent answer as well. Welcome to the forum.
